👋 Meet the Team - Curtis

Kicking things off by welcoming Curtis back after successfully wrapping up his final stretch of heavy-duty journeyman training. 🛠️

Curtis has been with Alberta Coach & Chassis from the very start of his heavy-duty career. While most techs cut their teeth on trucks or equipment, Curtis built his foundation working on motorhomes, the systems, the slides, the chassis mysteries, and the electrical rebuilds that make others raise an eyebrow.

At this point?
Not much surprises him anymore. And that’s exactly what you want in an RV service bay.

He brings:
▪Motorhome-forged mechanical skill
▪A calm, methodical approach when jobs get complicated
▪Confidence backed by real experience, not guesswork
▪A steady, detail-driven mindset, even when a coach rolls in looking like it had a long day

We’re proud to have had him from the beginning, and even prouder to see him step into the next stage of his career this spring, right as adventure season kicks into high gear.

Welcome back, Curtis.
Right on schedule. As always.

Alberta Coach & Chassis Ltd. runs stronger because our team was built by coaches, challenges, and the drive to solve them properly.

Motorhome Coming Out of Storage? Here is Something to Keep in Mind

If your unit has not been driven for 30 days or more, certain maintenance items can change, especially when it comes to fluids and emissions systems.

One of the big ones
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)

If a motorhome sits for extended periods, particularly 3 months or more in temperatures around 30°C (86°F) or higher, the DEF can begin to break down.

When that happens
▪The fluid may no longer perform properly
▪Emissions system issues can occur
▪Topping it off may actually make things worse

In these cases, the proper fix is to drain and replace the DEF, not just add more.

Our DEF system maintenance service is designed to keep the system operating within spec and prevent costly failures.

What is included

✓ DEF filter replacement
Ensures clean fluid flow and protects injectors and system components

✓ DEF quality and density testing using a refractometer
Confirms proper 32.5 percent urea concentration for optimal SCR performance

✓ DEF system pressure testing
Identifies leaks, weak components, or pressure loss before failure occurs

If your motorhome has been in storage or sitting for a while, now is the time to book your DEF service before your first trip.

DEFinitely the right service for your coach

Did You Know? We Replace Motorhome Windshields!

Driving Alberta highways means the occasional rock chip or crack is almost unavoidable - especially with the size and height of motorhome windshields. What may start as a small crack can quickly spread, and when it does, a full windshield replacement is often the safest solution.

At Alberta Coach & Chassis, we specialize in motorhome windshield replacement. While we don’t repair chips or small cracks, our team has the experience and equipment needed to remove and replace large motorhome windshields properly and safely.

We also understand that dealing with insurance can sometimes feel like another job on its own. The good news is that we work with most insurance companies and can help guide you through the process to make things as smooth and straightforward as possible.

Motorhome windshields are very different from standard automotive glass - they’re larger, heavier, and require specialized installation techniques to ensure everything seals correctly and maintains the structural integrity of the coach. That’s why it’s important to have the work done by technicians who are familiar with Class A motorhomes and large coach glass.

If your windshield has been damaged, don’t wait until the crack spreads across the glass. Reach out to our team and we’ll help you get it taken care of so you can get back to enjoying the road.

✔ Motorhome windshield replacement
✔ We work with most insurance companies
✔ Experienced technicians who know coaches
✔ Proper installation for large RV windshields

If your coach needs a new windshield, give us a call - we’re here to help.

Alberta Coach & Chassis Ltd.
Because the road is calling.

Sharp Eyes in the Shop

This one’s a solid reminder of why regular maintenance matters.

One of our techs spotted an issue with a Hydraulic lift where a hydraulic cylinder had seized, and unfortunately, it caused substantial damage to the lift itself. Once a cylinder locks up, the damage can escalate quickly, and repairs get expensive fast.

The frustrating part?
This was very likely preventable.

Proper maintenance on hydraulic lifts is extremely important. Something as simple as regular greasing of the cylinder and routine inspections could have extended the life of this lift significantly and helped avoid major damage altogether.

Small maintenance items done consistently can save you from big repairs later on. If your lift hasn’t been serviced in a while, it might be time to take a closer look.

Alberta Coach & Chassis Ltd.
Preventative maintenance today saves expensive repairs tomorrow.

Meet the Team - Levi

Around here, Levi doesn’t just fix motorhomes; he’s the guy who quietly solves the puzzle. When something breaks, acts “funny,” or decides to be dramatic… Levi is already 10 steps into the mystery, following the clues like a breadcrumb trail.

Levi is one of our most dialed-in techs, bringing:

✔Generator magician status - when a generator throws a fit, he’s already connecting the dots

✔Slide-out repair precision - smooth operation isn’t a bonus, it’s the baseline

✔Chassis & suspension confidence - the heavy stuff doesn’t make him blink

✔That “you can’t teach this level of noticing” attention to detail

We’ll put it this way…

When a coach needs a little love + someone who actually notices the difference, Levi is the guy.

And when he’s not in the shop?

He’s that just-plain-cool biker guy who lives for the open road. Levi loves to ride, and if you’ve ever met him, that part makes perfect sense.

Shop hours or saddle hours, Levi keeps life in high gear.
Our Gold Wing-riding, problem-solving, burnout-approved technician.

Alberta Coach & Chassis runs better because Levi treats every system like it’s telling him a story, and he doesn’t stop until he finds the ending.

🍀 St. Patrick’s Day in the Bays

Some people wear green today.
We check for it.

Because nothing says “spring is coming” like seeing healthy green coolant instead of 50 shades of “uh oh”.

If coolant could text, green would mean:
“I’m fine, thanks for asking.”
Brown would mean:
“Bring snacks, this is gonna take a while.”

Alberta Coach & Chassis Ltd.
May your coolant stay green, your batteries stay strong, and your road stories start at the campground, not the shop 🍀🍀🍀

Let’s Talk Motorhome Batteries

Batteries are one of those systems most people don’t think about… until there’s a problem

No starts, low voltage, systems shutting down, or no power when you need it most - battery issues always seem to show up at the worst time. That’s why this is something worth looking at and discussing ahead of time, not reacting to later.

Most motorhomes actually have two separate battery banks:
▪Chassis (Coach) Batteries
These are responsible for starting the engine and powering the dash, lights, and driving-related systems. When these fail, you’re not going anywhere.
▪House Batteries
These power the living side of the coach - lights, water pump, slides, inverter, appliances, and more when you’re not plugged in. These are the batteries that affect comfort and off-grid capability.

Battery options we commonly see
✔Lead Acid - Budget-friendly, requires maintenance, shorter lifespan
✔AGM - Maintenance-free, more reliable, popular upgrade from lead acid
✔Lithium - Longer lifespan, faster charging, lighter weight, and better performance - but not every motorhome is set up for lithium without modifications

There’s no one-size-fits-all solution. How you camp, how much power you use, and how your motorhome is wired all matter - and your chassis and house battery needs are often very different.

The best time to review your battery setup is before there’s a failure. A quick conversation now can prevent being stuck without power later.

The right battery setup keeps you moving - and comfortable.
