Alex MacDonald Motors — A Local Legacy That Still Runs Full Service

Since 1968, the MacDonald family name has been part of life on Post Road. Brothers Joe and John MacDonald carry on what their father, Alex MacDonald, started more than fifty years ago — first with his AMC Jeep dealership in Marshy Hope, and now with Alex MacDonald Motors, still proudly family-run.

They’re the oldest Irving distributor in the area and the only full-service gas station left in Antigonish — the kind of place where someone still comes out to give you a hand. Whether you need a propane refill, a quick check under the hood, or just a friendly chat at the pumps, this is where service still means something.

Joe also serves as Fire Chief for Barneys River, another way the family keeps giving back to the community that’s supported them all these years.
