A friend of mine Terry brought this to my attention. Good points!

If you can, pull up the article from Canadian Press, and read about the brutal temperatures across Canada. Pay special attention to the part about Alberta running low on electricity because the renewable energy can't keep up because of no wind and no sunshine and 2 natural gas turbines are down. In Manitoba, they are using rotating brown outs of 30 minutes, to conserve energy. Here in Ontario we have had about a month or more of cloudy, rainy and foggy conditions as well as days so windy that the wind turbines have to have their brakes on therefore no electricity produced. The East Coast has experienced hurricanes, high winds and snow storms. When does green energy help them. Does nuclear or natural gas turbines sound so bad ? Tell these people,who are suffering, how the carbon tax is making life better.

Leadership.

This morning while conducting our morning station duties. As I was mopping the kitchen in the station. I was asked by the off going firefighter “why they got you mopping?”
My answer to her was “this is a team effort and it’s not that they have me mopping.I choose to help out with the station duties.”

Even after almost 22 years on the job and 10 years as a company officer I will mop and sweep floors with my crew. This is our station and these are our chores. This is our shift. This is our crew!!!

Company officers should never be to good to run a mop or a broom around the station. If you are you may want to check yourself. When I came up in the fire service it was the firefighter’s responsibility to do the chores solely. I’ve had officers that put pennies in the corners to make sure that I was sweeping properly. I will make a valiant effort to never forget how to run that mop or broom as long as I’m in this business.
