Is your diesel trying to tell you something? šŸ”§

These injectors just came out of a customer’s truck at our Abbotsford shop. Injectors are some of the hardest-working parts in a diesel engine. They fire fuel into the cylinder at extremely high pressure, thousands of times a minute, and they have to be precise every time. When one starts to fail, the whole engine feels it.

Signs you might have a bad injector:
• Hard starts or long cranking, especially when it’s cold
• Rough or lumpy idle
• Excess smoke (black, white, or blue)
• Loss of power or hesitation under load
• Worse fuel economy
• Knocking or ticking that wasn’t there before
• A check engine light or injector balance rate codes
• Rising oil level or a fuel smell in the oil

What causes them to fail? Contaminated fuel and water in the system are the most common culprits. Worn internal parts, carbon buildup, and plain high mileage are the others.

Why you shouldn’t wait: a leaking or stuck-open injector can wash down a cylinder wall, dilute your engine oil with fuel, or in the worst case damage a piston. A repair that starts as an injector job can turn into an engine job.

How we diagnose it: we don’t guess. We run balance rate and contribution tests and check return flow to find the exact problem before we replace anything. When injectors come out, they go back in with new copper seals, every time.

If your truck is showing any of these signs, bring it in before it gets worse.

Then the oil goes past its life, the fuel filter loads up, injectors start working harder than they should, and what would have been a scheduled service on a Tuesday morning becomes a tow bill, a rebuild, and a truck sitting still for three weeks.

Deferred maintenance isn’t saving money. It’s financing a much bigger repair at a much worse time.

Fluids, filters, coolant chemistry, DPF service, injector health — check them on your schedule, not when the truck decides for you.

Proud to be a sponsor of an event that’s raised over $1.4 million for the Pacific Autism Family Network since 2014 — funding that goes directly to families right here in the Fraser Valley. The PAFN Chilliwack centre supports over 125 local families with free navigation, social groups, and therapy access.

Good golf, good people, and a cause worth showing up for. Already looking forward to next year.

Thanks to Steve Saccomano and the whole Saccomaniacs crew for putting it together.

Your truck’s check engine light isn’t a suggestion. It’s a cry for help.

Ignoring it won’t make it go away — it’ll just make the repair bill more interesting. Bring it in before ā€œsmall noiseā€ becomes ā€œsmall fortune.ā€

Symptoms: rough idle, black smoke, and a check engine light you’ve been ā€œmonitoringā€ since March.

Diagnosis: you need a doctor.

Good news — no waiting room, no clipboard, no receptionist asking if you’ve tried drinking more water. Just diesel guys who know what that noise is before you finish describing it. Injectors, fuel systems, diagnostics, full engine work.

Bad news — yes, it was the thing you were hoping it wasn’t. Bring it in anyway.

YOUR INJECTORS ARE ROBBING YOU BLIND

Your injectors aren’t broken. They’re just quietly reaching into your wallet every time you turn the key.

1. YOU’RE FEEDING THE ROAD, NOT THE ENGINE
A worn nozzle doesn’t mist fuel — it dribbles it like a garden hose with a kink. Half your diesel never burns. You’re just power-washing the exhaust from the inside.

2. YOU’VE ADAPTED TO BEING SLOW
Be honest. You’ve been mashing that pedal a little harder for months and telling yourself the truck’s ā€œjust loaded heavy.ā€ It’s not the load. It’s the injectors. And your right foot is paying the fuel bill for both of you.

3. YOUR DPF IS DOING CARDIO IT DIDN’T SIGN UP FOR
Bad spray pattern = soot. Soot = regens. Regens = burning fuel to burn off fuel you already wasted. Your DPF is out there running marathons on a part-time contract, and it will quit.

4. THAT’S NOT OIL ANYMORE. THAT’S SOUP.
A leaking injector washes raw diesel past the rings and straight into the pan. Pull the dipstick and it smells like a fuel station. That’s not lubricating anything. That’s a bottom end with a countdown timer.

5. ONE BAD HOLE CAN END THE WHOLE ENGINE
Stuck open injector, too much fuel in one cylinder, and now you own a piston with a window in it.

The unsexy truth: get them tested. Balance rates, return flow, pop pressure. Ten minutes of diagnostics beats a long conversation with your insurance guy.

Bring it in before it turns into a story.
