Lifting edges. Little bumps under the film. Lines where it was stretched too far. When PPF goes wrong, it's usually not the film's fault. It's the room it was fitted in.

Dust that lands on the panel gets sealed under the film for good. Poor light means the installer can't see the mistake until you can, in the sun, a week later.

So we gave PPF its own room: kept clean, lit so every edge shows, and used for film work only. It's not glamorous. It's just how it should be done.

Most of the time the cheaper option isn't a ceramic coating. It's a glaze. A glaze makes the car look amazing for a couple of weeks, then the first few washes take it away. Chery has built its first bakkie, meet the Grootman.

On paper it’s a serious piece of kit. A 2.5 turbodiesel teamed up with electric motors for 350 kW and 800 Nm, full 4x4, 3.5 tonnes of towing, and up to 100 km on battery alone before the diesel even wakes up. It lands in SA early 2027, so we’ll see how long it takes to cross the border.
