❤️ CELEBRATING WOMEN, SHARING EXPERIENCES, BUILDING COLLABORATIONS! ❤️

We are proud to share that our Founder has been invited as a guest speaker at the Thuraco Farms High Chic Tea Party in Serowe on 31 October 2026.

As a social entrepreneur, her journey is a testament to how lived experiences can inspire meaningful change and how purpose driven initiatives can grow into platforms that empower others.

To the beautiful ladies of Serowe, come ready to listen, learn, share, and network! Let us create space for meaningful conversations, celebrate one another’s journeys, and explore how collaboration can help us grow, break barriers, and build a better future for women and girls.

And for those who would love to connect with us beyond the tea party, Girls Under the Hood Africa will be hosting our Road Ready for December Safe Mobility Workshop on 21 November 2026 in Gaborone. We look forward to continuing the conversation around women’s confidence, practical skills, and safer mobility.

Here’s to women who inspire, women who collaborate, and women who open doors for others. 🥂❤️

Testimonial : “Girls under the Hood”

In 2017, I found myself at a filling station, low on petrol, just like any ordinary day.

When the attendant asked if he could check the oil and water, I agreed without a second thought, accustomed to the routine.
However, this time was different; the radiator lid was not securely tightened. Just a few minutes later, I was shocked to see steam billowing from the bonnet of my car.

In a moment of panic, I parked by the roadside and, like an inexperienced driver, tried to open the bonnet.
To my horror, a hot water splash and a flying cap greeted me, resulting in searing pain on the right side of my face.
The experience was nothing short of terrifying, and I am thankful that the burns were only first degree: it could have been so much worse.

This incident reinforced my belief that women should empower themselves with knowledge about their cars. That’s why I am thrilled to be founder of “Girls Under the Hood Africa”program that will be run by qualified female mechanics in time.

The four GUTH pillars

1. Practical Car Skills for Everyday Women
Basic vehicle knowledge, tyre changes, fluids, warning lights, jump starts, pre-trip checks and the confidence to deal with everyday roadside situations.

2. Girls in Grassroots Motorsport

Creating entry points for girls into motorsport ,not necessarily only as racers, but into the wider ecosystem around racing, technical skills, mechanical knowledge and opportunities.

3. Women in Automotive & Motorsport

Building visibility and connections for women already working in the sector : mechanics, engineers, racers, technicians, entrepreneurs, media and other professionals, while creating networks for the next generation.

4. Defensive Driving & Safe Mobility

Helping women and communities become safer, more confident road users. Our formal defensive-driving offering is planned for 2027, but for the festive season, safe-mobility/road-safety conversation is a priority for 2026

🚨 EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT!

GIRLS UNDER THE HOOD AFRICA IS BACK! 🚗

And we are officially counting down to 21 NOVEMBER 2026 our first Safe Mobility Workshop for 2026.

If you have been asking us, “When is the next workshop starting?” … THIS IS IT!
2027 calendar will be shared soon.

On 21 November, we are bringing women together for a practical, hands-on session designed to help you feel more confident and prepared behind the wheel before the festive season begins.

Because December is a time for family, travel, road trips and long journeys ; but it is also one of the periods when our roads see increased traffic and serious road crashes.

We want to play our part.

We want our women to know what to do when that tyre goes flat.
What those warning lights actually mean.
How to check essential fluids.
What to do before a long journey.
How to respond when something goes wrong.

And most importantly, we want you to leave saying:

“I CAN DO THIS.”

And there is MORE!

We have some exciting new partners and sponsorships that we cannot wait to unveil on 21 November. We are incredibly excited about the organisations joining us on this journey and what this means for the future of Girls Under the Hood Africa.

Because this is only the beginning.

In 2027, defensive driving and safe mobility education will become an even bigger part of what we offer.

But for now, our mission is simple:

Let’s help our women travel safely this festive season.

Let’s make our roads safer, one confident driver at a time. ❤️
