Wheels out of alignment is a common reason for excessive or uneven tyre wear. Wheel alignment problems cause your tyres to rub or drag against the road, leading to excessive tyre wear. In severe cases, tyres will wear out in a matter of few hundred kilometers or a few weeks.

Misaligned wheels can make car to pull to one side or the steering wheel to vibrate when driving.

The reason why your tyres may become misaligned can be down to suspension defects, hitting a pothole or curb hard that twists the tie-rod, carrying heavy load above the vehicle capacity, loosening of nuts and bolts, axle bearing wear out, etc. etc.

Wheel alignment refers to the adjustment of a vehicle's suspension to ensure that all wheels are perpendicular to the ground and pointing in the same direction. This process is important for maintaining the lifespan of a vehicle's tyres, improving handling and stability, and ensuring a smooth and safe ride.

In order to rectify wheel alignment, you’ll need to take it to a garage that has the correct alignment tools because they’ll be able to align the wheels to the manufacturer’s specification. Wheel alignment is often referred to as tracking and it’s the process of setting the car’s tyres to the angles (camber, toe and caster) specified by the manufacturer.

Wheel alignment should be performed by a professional mechanic and should be checked periodically, especially after hitting potholes or curbs, changes to your vehicle’s suspensions or after getting new tyres. In the past, strings were used to adjust the mis-aligned wheels. Nowadays, computerized Laser Wheel Alignment and Balancing means it will be accurate to a fraction of millimeter.
