In an effort to bring attention to conduct that should not be ignored.
“Today around 12:30 p.m., my 16 year old daughter, my 21year old niece, and her 23 year old boyfriend were pulled over by police while driving on Windsor Place Road off Soldier Road by two officers in a black police truck.
My daughter was seated in the back, my niece in the front passenger seat, and her boyfriend was driving. He is small in stature and posed no threat to anyone.
They complied with every instruction given. The officers requested identification from all occupants. When they asked why they were stopped, the officers refused to provide a reason and responded in a dismissive manner using profanity. This is unacceptable, as individuals being pulled over are entitled to understand the reason for the stop.
The occupants remained calm, respectful, and cooperative throughout the entire interaction, behaviour that should be expected and encouraged, not met with hostility.
Officer Moss, badge number 4165, and the other officer, who refused to identify himself but whose badge number was obtained as 4577, were both aggressive in the initial interaction, with their weapons drawn and fingers on the trigger in the direction of these children. Officer Moss eventually calmed down. However, his partner, badge number 4577, continued to act aggressively, used foul language, and kept his gun drawn with his finger on the trigger.
Despite full compliance, the driver was handled in a physically aggressive manner. All three of them are shaken and distressed by this experience. There was no resistance. No threat. No justification for that level of force.
I am aware that there have been recent efforts and forums addressing police conduct and engagement with the public. Incidents like this show that those standards are not being applied where it matters most.
By no means should this ever occur. Every situation should be handled with proper training, sound judgment, and respect. We do not need to traumatize children or any citizen who is compliant and poses no threat.” - Anonymous
This level of aggression should not be tolerated. This needs to be addressed.
