Voiture ouvreuse : une F.N., évidemment…

Dans le milieu du rallye, on parle de voiture ‘zéro’, celle qui précède les concurrents sur les tronçons chronométrés. Dans le cadre d’un événement convivial et sans la moindre notion de compétition comme la Commémoration du Circuit des Ardennes, il s’agit plutôt d’une voiture ouvreuse, qui s’élance devant les participants afin de s’assurer une ultime fois qu’aucun obstacle ne va se présenter sur leur route. Et cette automobile annonçant l’arrivée de la caravane, elle sera plus que jamais dans le ton du millésime 2026 de l’événement mis sur pied par le Royal Automobile Club de Spa, dès l’instant où il s’agira d’une… F.N. de 1925 ! Que Patrick Jamar, ouvreur attiré de l’organisation, aura pour mission de mener à bon port.

De voorwagen: uiteraard een F.N.…

In de rallywereld spreekt men over de ‘nulwagen’, die vóór de deelnemers over de klassementsproeven rijdt. Bij een gastvrij evenement zonder enig competitief karakter, zoals de Herdenking van het Circuit des Ardennes, gaat het eerder om een voorwagen. Die vertrekt vóór de deelnemers om een laatste keer te controleren of er zich geen hindernissen op hun route bevinden.
De auto die de komst van de karavaan aankondigt, past bovendien perfect bij de editie 2026 van het evenement dat door de Royal Automobile Club de Spa wordt georganiseerd. Het gaat namelijk om een… F.N. uit 1925! Patrick Jamar, de vaste voorrijder van de organisatie, krijgt de opdracht om hem veilig naar zijn bestemming te brengen.

The 0 car: an FN, of course…

In the rally world, the ‘zero’ car is the vehicle that precedes the competitors on the timed stages. At a friendly event with no competitive element whatsoever, such as the Ardennes Circuit Commemoration, it is more accurately referred to as the lead car. It sets off ahead of the participants to ensure, one last time, that the route is clear and free of any obstacles.
This year, the vehicle leading the way and announcing the arrival of the field will be more in keeping than ever with the spirit of the 2026 edition of the event organised by the Royal Automobile Club of Spa, as it will be a 1925 FN. Behind the wheel will be the organisers’ enthusiastic lead car driver, Patrick Jamar, whose mission will be to guide it safely all the way to the finish.

‘Krugger’ expose sur le thème de la F.N. !

Si l’édition 2026 de la Commémoration du Circuit des Ardennes vaudra notamment par l’exposition mise sur pied en collaboration avec la fondation Ars Mechanica et consacrée à l’histoire auto et moto de la Fabrique Nationale (F.N.), celle-ci sera parfaitement complétée par l’espace réservé à Fred Bertrand, mondialement connu sous le nom ‘Krugger’, expert en création de motos et d’autos d’exception !
De véritables œuvres d’art qui sont autant de pièces uniques. Sa dernière réalisation en date, elle est en cours et pas encore terminée. C’est donc un ‘Work in Progress’ que le citoyen de Basse-Bodeux va présenter sur la Place McAuliffe. Une moto qui est parfaitement dans le thème…
« Il s’agit d’une commande privée d’un client qui me donne carte blanche, commente ‘Krugger’. Ce projet renvoie aux années ’30-’35, dans la mouvance Art Déco. Une époque où l’esthétique se mariait enfin au fonctionnel. On parle ici de ‘Streamline Moderne’, courant inspiré de l'aérodynamisme. Il se caractérise par des lignes horizontales étirées, des angles arrondis. Ce style symbolise la vitesse et la modernité industrielle de l'époque… »
Ce projet de moto exclusive méritait une mécanique 100% belge. Le choix de ‘Krugger’ s’est porté sur un FN 500 culbuté de 1927. D’où son lien étroit avec l’exposition au cœur de Bastogne. Fred Bertrand sera présent sur place durant le week-end, toujours prêt à partager ses émotions et à parler de ses réalisations. Il en profitera pour officialiser un plan de communication autour de la moto en cours de réalisation. A ne pas manquer.

'Krugger' exposeert rond het thema FN!

De herdenking van het Ardennencircuit 2026 zal vooral in het oog springen dankzij de tentoonstelling die, in samenwerking met de Stichting Ars Mechanica, werd georganiseerd en gewijd is aan de auto- en motorgeschiedenis van Fabrique Nationale (FN). Daarnaast is er een ruimte voorbehouden aan Fred Bertrand, wereldwijd bekend als 'Krugger', een expert in het creëren van uitzonderlijke motorfietsen en auto's.
Zijn creaties zijn ware kunstwerken, stuk voor stuk uniek. Zijn nieuwste project is nog volop in ontwikkeling en dus nog niet voltooid. Het gaat om een echte work in progress, die de inwoner van Basse-Bodeux op het McAuliffeplein zal voorstellen: een motorfiets die perfect aansluit bij het thema.
"Dit is een privéopdracht van een klant die mij carte blanche heeft gegeven," vertelt 'Krugger'. "Dit project grijpt terug naar de jaren dertig, in de Art Deco-stijl."
Een tijdperk waarin esthetiek en functionaliteit eindelijk samenkwamen. We hebben het over Streamline Moderne, een stijl die geïnspireerd is op de aerodynamica. Kenmerkend zijn de langgerekte horizontale lijnen en de afgeronde hoeken. Deze stijl symboliseert de snelheid en de industriële moderniteit van die tijd.
Voor dit exclusieve motorproject koos Krugger bewust voor een 100% Belgische krachtbron: een FN 500-kopklepmotor uit 1927. Daarmee is de link met de tentoonstelling in het hart van Bastogne meteen duidelijk.
Fred Bertrand zal het hele weekend aanwezig zijn, steeds bereid om zijn passie te delen en over zijn werk te vertellen. Bovendien zal hij van de gelegenheid gebruikmaken om officieel het communicatieplan rond de motorfiets die momenteel in ontwikkeling is, te lanceren.

'Krugger' Exhibits on the Theme of FN!

The 2026 Ardennes Circuit Commemoration will be a highlight for enthusiasts thanks to the exhibition, organized in collaboration with the Ars Mechanica Foundation and dedicated to the automotive and motorcycle heritage of Fabrique Nationale (FN). The event will also feature a special exhibition space devoted to Fred Bertrand, better known around the world as 'Krugger', the renowned creator of exceptional motorcycles and automobiles.
His creations are true works of art, each one entirely unique. His latest project is still under development and has not yet been completed. Visitors will have the rare opportunity to discover this genuine work in progress, presented by the Basse-Bodeux native in McAuliffe Square—a motorcycle that perfectly reflects the exhibition's theme.
"This is a private commission from a client who gave me complete creative freedom," says 'Krugger'. "The project is inspired by the 1930s and the Art Deco movement."
It was an era when aesthetics and functionality finally came together. The design draws on the Streamline Moderne style, inspired by aerodynamics and characterized by long horizontal lines and rounded curves. It embodies the speed and industrial modernity of the period.
Such an exclusive motorcycle project deserved a truly Belgian engine, so Krugger selected a 1927 FN 500 overhead-valve engine. This naturally creates a strong link with the exhibition in the heart of Bastogne.
Fred Bertrand will be present throughout the weekend, ready to share his passion and discuss his work with visitors. He will also take the opportunity to officially launch the communication campaign for the motorcycle currently under development.

Autos et motos, c’est jusqu’à 1976 !

Les préparatifs en vue de la Commémoration du Circuit des Ardennes 2026, programmée les samedi 8 et dimanche 9 août, se poursuivent. Au sein du Royal Automobile Club de Spa, les contacts avec les participants des éditions précédentes se multiplient, tandis que de nouveaux équipages font leur apparition sur la liste des engagés.

Après avoir ramené le montant de participation des motards à 100 euros pour les deux jours, partant du principe où les adeptes des deux roues sont généralement seuls sur leur machine, les organisateurs de l’événement basé sur la Place McAuliffe de Bastogne ont décidé d’aller plus loin encore…

Alors que les automobiles acceptées au départ doivent être antérieures à 1976, pour les motos, la date avait été fixée par l’organisateur précédent à 1969. Une situation qui évolue…
« Nous avons en effet été contactés par plusieurs propriétaires de motos du début des années ’70, essentiellement des japonaises, commente Pierre Delettre au nom du R.A.C. Spa. Nous les avons écoutés, avant de décider d’accéder à leurs souhaits d’être de la partie les 8 et 9 août. Désormais, les choses sont encore plus simples : sur quatre ou sur deux roues, la date butoir sera 1976 ! »
Dans la foulée, une Honda CB200 (voir photo) a rejoint la liste des participants. D’autres devraient suivre.

Auto's en motoren, tot en met 1976!

De voorbereidingen voor de Ardennen Circuit Commemoration 2026, die gepland staat op zaterdag 8 en zondag 9 augustus, zijn in volle gang. Binnen de Royal Automobile Club van Spa worden de contacten met deelnemers van voorgaande edities geïntensiveerd, terwijl ook nieuwe teams op de deelnemerslijst verschijnen.

Na de verlaging van het inschrijfgeld voor motorrijders naar € 100 voor beide dagen, gebaseerd op het principe dat zij doorgaans alleen op hun motor rijden, hebben de organisatoren van het evenement op de Place McAuliffe in Bastogne besloten nog een stap verder te gaan…

Waar auto's die aan de start mogen verschijnen van vóór 1976 moeten dateren, hanteerde de vorige organisator voor motoren een bouwjaargrens van 1969. Daar komt nu verandering in.
"We werden benaderd door verschillende eigenaars van motoren uit het begin van de jaren 70, voornamelijk Japanse modellen," legt Pierre Delettre namens de R.A.C. Spa uit. "We hebben naar hen geluisterd en besloten aan hun verzoek tegemoet te komen, zodat ook zij op 8 en 9 augustus kunnen deelnemen. Voortaan is het heel eenvoudig: of het nu om vier of twee wielen gaat, de uiterste bouwjaardatum is 1976!"

Intussen heeft een Honda CB200 (zie foto) zich al bij de deelnemerslijst gevoegd. Er worden nog meer inschrijvingen verwacht.

Cars and motorcycles: now eligible up to 1976!

Preparations for the 2026 Ardennes Circuit Commemoration, scheduled for Saturday, August 8, and Sunday, August 9, are well underway. Within the Royal Automobile Club of Spa, contacts with participants from previous editions are intensifying, while new teams continue to join the entry list.

Following the reduction of the entry fee for motorcyclists to €100 for both days, based on the principle that riders generally compete on their own, the organisers of the event at Place McAuliffe in Bastogne have decided to go one step further…
While eligible cars have always had to date from before 1976, the previous organiser had set a cut-off year of 1969 for motorcycles. That is now changing.

"We were contacted by several owners of motorcycles from the early 1970s, mainly Japanese models," explains Pierre Delettre on behalf of R.A.C. Spa. "We listened to their requests and decided to grant their wish to take part on August 8 and 9. From now on, it's simple: whether on four wheels or two, the cut-off year is 1976!"

As a result, a Honda CB200 (see photo) has already joined the entry list, and more are expected to follow.

Amis motards, nous vous avons entendus !

Autant le reconnaître, les motos du temps d’avant ne sont pas légion sur la liste très provisoire des participants en vue de la Commémoration du Circuit des Ardennes 2026 (8 & 9 août). Deux explications à ça. Primo, le Royal Automobile Club de Spa est, comme son nom l’indique, spécialisé dans les événements automobiles, que ce soit en rallye ou sur circuit. La connexion avec l’univers des deux roues est donc réduite… ce qui n’empêche pas de tout mettre en œuvre pour favoriser le rapprochement.
En concertation avec Albert Thiry, collaborateur du R.A.C. Spa et coordinateur de la halte dominicale à Habay-la-Neuve, il a été décidé de revoir le montant de l’engagement pour les motards. Il est vrai que sur la moto, il n’y a généralement qu’une seule personne, tandis que dans l’habitacle d’une automobile, deux personnes peuvent partager les frais de participation.
Il a donc été décidé que l’inscription pour les motos (jusqu’à 1969, pour rappel !) a été ramenée à 100 euros TVAC ! Un montant démocratique permettant de prendre part aux deux jours de l’événement, et de pleinement profiter du parcours de qualité créé pour l’occasion, et différent de celui de l’an dernier. En plus des différentes haltes et autres animations. A bon entendeur…

Beste motorliefhebbers, we hebben jullie gehoord!

Laten we eerlijk zijn: oldtimermotoren zijn voorlopig nog niet bepaald talrijk vertegenwoordigd op de deelnemerslijst van de Ardennen Circuit Herdenking 2026 (8 en 9 augustus). Daar zijn twee redenen voor.
Ten eerste is de Royal Automobile Club van Spa, zoals de naam al doet vermoeden, gespecialiseerd in auto-evenementen, of het nu gaat om rally's of circuitraces. De band met de wereld van de tweewielers is dan ook eerder beperkt... maar dat weerhoudt de club er niet van om alles in het werk te stellen om die band verder te versterken.
In overleg met Albert Thiry, medewerker van de R.A.C. Spa en coördinator van de zondagse stop in Habay-la-Neuve, werd daarom beslist om het inschrijfgeld voor motorrijders te herzien. Op een motor neemt doorgaans slechts één persoon deel, terwijl in een auto de deelnamekosten meestal door twee personen kunnen worden gedeeld. Daarom is het inschrijfgeld voor motoren (gebouwd tot en met 1969, let wel!) verlaagd naar slechts € 100 inclusief btw.
Een aantrekkelijke prijs waarmee je aan beide dagen van het evenement kunt deelnemen en volop kunt genieten van het hoogwaardige parcours, dat speciaal voor deze editie werd uitgewerkt en afwijkt van dat van vorig jaar. Daarbovenop zijn er tal van tussenstops en andere activiteiten voorzien. Een buitenkans voor elke liefhebber!

Fellow bikers, we've heard you!

Let's face it: vintage motorcycles are still few and far between on the current provisional entry list for the 2026 Ardennes Circuit Commemoration (August 8–9). There are two reasons for this.
First, as its name suggests, the Royal Automobile Club of Spa specializes in car events, whether rallies or circuit races. Its links with the world of two wheels are therefore rather limited... but that certainly hasn't stopped the club from doing everything possible to strengthen those ties.
After consultation with Albert Thiry, R.A.C. Spa official and coordinator of the Sunday stop in Habay-la-Neuve, it was decided to revise the entry fee for motorcycles. After all, a motorcycle is usually ridden by just one person, whereas the entry fee for a car can generally be shared by two participants.
As a result, the entry fee for motorcycles (built up to and including 1969) has been reduced to just €100 (VAT included)!
An attractive price that gives you access to both days of the event and the opportunity to enjoy a brand-new, high-quality route, specially designed for this edition and different from last year's. Add to that a variety of refreshment stops and activities along the way, and you have every reason to join us.
