A couple years ago I made a oilcooler mounting kit, that mounts to the torsion tube.
Originally made up of a couple of brackets, a protection plate that also doubles as a scoop to redirect air into the 48 plate cooler.
I have fitted it to both swing axle and IRS cars. Early and late brackets are available.
But also managed to fit it to my type 3. With the cooler slightly offset further to the back.
I think this setup is a good idea in a lot of situations.
But, I have had customers who only bought the brackets and fitted a 72 cooler with it.
Leaving them to come up with making their own protection plate.
So I am now fiddling with 2 ideas.
1. One is to fit a better cooler but similar in size. That is now being tested on my own beetle. Which have the benefit of being available with AN fittings.
2. A cooling fan to help move air better and also cool better when the car needs it and is sitting still in traffic. RP Custom Projects doesn't know it yet, but I will sit down with him to come up with either a new plate or an additional one to fit the fan so it clears everything.
Keep asking questions, keep shooting me your ideas and problems, I might be tempted to look into it and hopefully find a good solution.
