অক্সিজেন সেন্সরের মূল কাজ:
এর প্রধান কাজ হলো ইঞ্জিনের পোড়া ধোঁয়ায় (Exhaust gas) অক্সিজেনের পরিমাণ পরিমাপ করা। এই তথ্যের মাধ্যমে গাড়ির কম্পিউটার (ECU) বুঝতে পারে যে ইঞ্জিনে জ্বালানি এবং বাতাসের মিশ্রণটি সঠিক অনুপাতে আছে কি না।
১. জ্বালানি খরচ নিয়ন্ত্রণ: এটি নিশ্চিত করে যেন ইঞ্জিন অতিরিক্ত তেল খরচ না করে।
২. দূষণ কমানো: দহন প্রক্রিয়া যেন সঠিক হয় এবং ক্ষতিকর গ্যাস কম উৎপন্ন হয়, সেদিকে খেয়াল রাখে।
৩. ইঞ্জিনের কর্মক্ষমতা বজায় রাখা: বাতাসের তুলনায় তেল বেশি বা কম (Rich or Lean mixture) হলে তা ঠিক করতে সাহায্য করে।
এটি যেভাবে কাজ করে:
অক্সিজেন সেন্সর মূলত একটি রাসায়নিক জেনারেটরের মতো কাজ করে যা ধোঁয়ায় থাকা অক্সিজেনের পরিমাণের ওপর ভিত্তি করে একটি ক্ষুদ্র ইলেকট্রিক ভোল্টেজ তৈরি করে।
* রাসায়নিক বিক্রিয়া: সেন্সরটির ভেতরে একটি সিরামিক উপাদান থাকে। যখন এটি খুব গরম হয় (প্রায় ৩০০° সেলসিয়াসের ওপরে), তখন এটি ধোঁয়ার অক্সিজেন এবং বাইরের বাতাসের অক্সিজেনের মধ্যে তুলনা করে।
* সিগন্যাল পাঠানো: * যদি ধোঁয়ায় অক্সিজেন কম থাকে (অর্থাৎ বেশি তেল পুড়ছে), তবে সেন্সরটি বেশি ভোল্টেজ তৈরি করে কম্পিউটারে পাঠায়।
* যদি ধোঁয়ায় অক্সিজেন বেশি থাকে (অর্থাৎ তেলের তুলনায় বাতাস বেশি), তবে এটি কম ভোল্টেজ তৈরি করে।
* অ্যাডজাস্টমেন্ট: এই ভোল্টেজের ওপর ভিত্তি করে গাড়ির কম্পিউটার (ECU) প্রতি সেকেন্ডে কয়েকবার ইনজেক্টর দিয়ে তেলের পরিমাণ বাড়িয়ে বা কমিয়ে দহন প্রক্রিয়াকে নিখুঁত রাখে।
সেন্সরটি নষ্ট হলে যা হতে পারে:
* এটি নষ্ট হলে:
* গাড়ির ড্যাশবোর্ডে 'Check Engine' লাইট জ্বলবে।
* গাড়ি আগের চেয়ে অনেক বেশি তেল খরচ করবে।
* ইঞ্জিন কাঁপতে পারে বা পিকআপ নিতে সমস্যা হতে পারে।
