We pray for the protest efforts and sacrifices of our students to bring positive changes in the overall road safety in Bangladesh. A few points are vital to avoid fatal accidents:
1. Pedestrians must use footover bridge wherever possible. If one has to cross the road, they must look right-left-right and cross when it is absolutely clear. It is better to be late than dead
2. Large vehicle drivers should avoid changing 2 lanes at a time, causing mass traffic chaos
3. Racing attitude comes from our ego. People's lives are more important. We should appreciate people who drive slowly and can handle their ego. This should be the new 'cool'
4. Unnecessary honking and flashing beamer light to the driver in front frustrates him/her. This leads to overtaking/lane blocking attitude in drivers. Drivers must be polite while driving
5. Every area must have designated bus stops properly marked. Queues for passengers must be created on a route basis. The act of getting on and off a running bus must be avoided. Once again...its better to be late than dead
It will not be possible to improve everything at a go. But if citizens and Government work together to ensure these system and attitude, a lot of accidents can be avoided at a very low cost and effort.
