Chelsea baffled at claims Diego Costa is being forced out by Antonio Conte!!!!

The 28-year-old's lawyer, Ricardo Cardoso, told Spanish news agency EFE on Thursday that his client intended to 'formally request a transfer' and also threatened Chelsea with legal action.

Costa has been told he is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge - a decision Chelsea insist was made in January - and Sky Sports News understands the Spain international is wanted by former club Atletico Madrid.

Reports in the national press had previously suggested Conte had informed Costa that he was no longer wanted by the club via text message in June.

"If I may I would like to say something on behalf of the club. We don't usually respond to comments of this nature, but I think we should do on this occasion," a Chelsea spokesman said.

Daniel Sturridge plays down fears after injury in Liverpool's win against Bayern Munich!!!

The England striker came on in the 67th minute with his side 2-0 up thanks to goals from Sadio Mane and new signing Mohamed Salah and he chipped in a fine third only to hurt his thigh at the Allianz Arena.

He was substituted three minutes later and although manager Jurgen Klopp expressed his concerns after the match, Sturridge was more upbeat on his own condition.

"I'm feeling great. I have put in the work, I trained a lot in the summer. I've not missed many sessions here, they have looked after me. We've done triple sessions and I have trained almost every single session.
