Ross McConville has been involved with horses his whole life. He enjoyed success as an owner and a breeder before taking out his trainer’s licence after the passing of his partner, 18-time Kembla Grange premiership-winning trainer, Gwenda Markwell. Now supported by Assistant Trainer Nigil Mohanan, Ross has his sights set on The Warra with a special horse he bred himself.

Today was Miss Peaches very first Hara Jump Club adventure. She took on the 45cm and even stepped up to her first 55cm! She handled it like an absolute superstar especially considering this was only her second ever outing, and Harper gave her such a positive ride 👏🏼
So proud of how brave and sensible she was 🍑
Harper and I couldn’t be happier with her progress.
And finally, a gentle reminder to Harper that I clearly won the Peaches vs. Rush battle. 🥇 I started her, she’s smashing it, and frankly I’m just waiting for my trophy to arrive in the post. 🐴 🏆 🤭

Today we farewell a stalwart of The Illawarra Turf Club, Track Manager Dave Anderson. He began his career as an Apprentice Greenkeeper at Kembla Grange Racecourse 40 years ago and has progressed through the ranks to become a source of knowledge and guidance to his counterparts at other tracks across NSW and beyond. Dave is a recent recipient of the Australian Racecourse Manager of the Year award and his greatest achievements at Kembla Grange are overseeing the construction of the Polytrack training surface and the reconstruction of the B Grass. We wish Dave all the best in his new role at Royal Randwick Racecourse.
