Great ride into the hills today! Ride Leader Paul was late and low on fuel. Quick riders brief and off we go.
1st stop Mitta (for Paul to fill up at $2:40/litre). Then through 50km of twisties to Glen Will's and a stop for some to look at the historic Maude and Yellow Girl mines, complete with Ruston 12M traction engine.
A picnic lunch at BIG RIVER CAMPGROUND was enjoyed by almost everyone. BONDY was carrying BEN'S lunch and missed the campground (3 times).
We regrouped at FALLS CREEK and stopped for an 'end of ride' coffee at Mount Beauty.
Great ride, great company.

A gathering of sorry looking lost souls all dressed up with nowhere to go turned up at Blind Freddys expecting to go for an exciting ride. So, what’s the problem? Seems there’s a shortage of ride leaders today for one reason or another….
In the end we decided on a run into deep, dark Victoria starting by first going in an Easterly direction, turning South then to the West, fairly normal sort of approach
So, where do we start? Out along the weir ignoring Maher’s Road for a change, then on to Gundowring road as far as Boyd road. Nip down there and turn left at the bottom. This takes us up and over Dederang Gap and then turn right at the power sub station back towards Yackandandah. Up to the top and turn into Tunnel Gap road, collective groan from everyone because a large caravan turned in before us, Ho hum, gonna drag all the way through Tunnel Gap behind a caravan? Wrong. Did he turn off? No he did not. The driver must have been one of the Top Gear lunatics hell bent on wrecking a caravan for fun.He threw that van left and right and kept up a very respectable speed. When we got down to the Myrtleford road we took the left down as far as the Stanley turn off and the boys enjoyed a run up through the twisties to Stanley where we all stopped for a reassemble. Then on to Beechworth as the terminus where everyone had a choice of munchies and the choice of the way home…..

We had perfect weather for our “Centrelink” ride today.
11 riders left Blind Freddys on an impromptu route devised by Blue.

Headed out to Mahers Road and I to Tangambalanga, out to Sandy Creek and a left turn onto Bryant’s Gap Road. At the end of Bryant’s Gap Rd we turned right and headed up to the Tallangatta lookout. What a perfect view, stunning….

After the lookout we headed to Old Tallangatta and onto George’s Creek Road, again a terrific road, left onto River Road, left again and headed to Bethanga Lookout, another stunning view.

The ride finished with lunch at the Lake Hume store.

A fantastic day was had, thanks to trip leader Blue and our TEC Rob from Wagga on Heathers Can Am.

Wednesday Ride Report 20th September 2023
What was a warm evening the night before was followed by a cooler day but still great for a ride.

Normal gathering at BF’s before we headed on our Journey.

Destination today was Bright and riders were asked to gather around 10 mins earlier for Riders brief as this was a little longer then normal although I was planning to be back by 1pm.

End destination was Bright for a bite (sorry about the pun).

So after regrouping on alongside the Quest, we headed out through Kallara and towards Gundowring Rd where we connected with the Kiewa Valley Hwy.

When we left, the weather was fine but then a couple of spots were enough to not only dampen the road but also our spirited riders. Never mind, it kept us safe. A quick regroup at the top of Tawonga gap before heading into Bright where the weather gods were more gentle.

We enjoyed a pie at Gumtree (most of us did) before returning back to Wodonga via one of our favorites being Carol’s Road.

Pleasant ride and the few spots of rain kept us a little more vigilant than normal.

Wednesday Ride Report 13th September 2023
Large Turnout at BF’s and a great day for a ride.

We have probably done every road over the many years of riding around the region so other option is to attack the journey in reverse to what I would normally do.

Departure was on time as we headed down the Baranduda Boulevard where we turned towards Yak. We then made our way through Allans Flat and Osborne Flat but much to our surprise, we soon learned that the speed limit had been reduced to 80kph. This is definitely slower than what we have traditionally been used to and unfortunately, this does take away some of the fun through this region.

Left turn onto the Yak - Mylteford Road brought us to a fun part of the trip where we connected with the Dederang Road at Bruarong.

After an enjoyable run, we arrived at the Kiewa Vally Hwy where we then headed South towards Mt Beauty. Arriving at one of our all time favourites was Happy Valley (Running Creek Road) where we then made our way to the top of the rise for a quick regrouping and back on the Road towards Ovens.

We arrive at the Mylteford Bakery for an early lunch followed by a Group ride back to Albury Wodonga.

However, a couple of riders could not help themselves and took the opportunity to ride back via Carol’s Road (Obviously not enough corners for some of us but good on you).

13 riders had a great day with great weather.
