👑 The King is back... and no, we’re not talking about Elvis! 🕺

KNGRX4 rolled into the workshop recently for a major service, and it’s a great reminder of just how well this build has stood the test of time. 🔧🔥

8 years ago, we built this tough 20B Turbo Mild Port RX4, featuring Psycho Apex Seals, a Blackbox ECU, Garrett GTX42 turbo, C4 gearbox, 9” diff, and a set of classic FR Simmons wheels. 🚀

Fast forward 8 years and this beast is still running like a dream, never missing a beat and continuing to turn heads wherever it goes. 💪💨

Scott’s R100 is officially in the build! 🔥🔧

So far we’ve installed the SDR Motorsport built 12A Bridgeport engine along with the Series 1 gearbox 👌 We have also fabricated and fitted a custom engine crossmember that can be reversed if they ever decide to put a 10A back in the car in the future 💪

This build is coming together nicely and we’re excited to keep progressing on it 🚗💨

Over the past few years, Clay and Mel have both been hard at work building and showcasing their incredible SDR Motorsport creations — Clay’s Supercharged LSA Datsun 1200 Ute and Mel’s 13B Turbo Datsun 1600 Sedan 🔥🚗💨

Both cars have excelled on the biggest stages in Australia, taking home multiple awards at events including Summernats, Rockynats, MotorEx, and most recently the Hot Rod & Custom Auto Expo on Saturday 🏆👏

This was the first time both Clay’s 1200 Ute and Mel’s 1600 Sedan were showcased together, and it was awesome to finally see the pair side by side 🙌

To top it all off, Mel’s 1600 Sedan took home a Top 20 award at the Hot Rod & Custom Auto Expo — an amazing achievement and well deserved! 🏅🔥

Next stop… Summernats 2027 👀💥
Mel will now be dropping the 1600 Sedan off to SDR Motorsport to get fully engineered, running, and driving so we can finally hear that 13B Turbo sing! 🎶💨🔥

UPDATE ON FAT65K 🔥🐎

It’s always an exciting feeling driving a car you’ve poured so much work into — even if it’s only around the car park 😅👌

The Mustang had its first short drive and it was a GOOD one! 💨 Sounds tough, feels great, and we’re one step closer to seeing this beast back on the road 🙌

Next stop for FAT65K is the trimmer ✂️ then it’ll be back at SDR Motorsport for engineering and registration ✅🚗

We can’t wait to finally get this Mustang out on the street properly and enjoy driving it the way it was built to be driven 😍🔥

🔥 ROLL RACING ROTARY REVIVAL RECAP! 🔥

Last Friday night Steve took his daughter/apprentice Steph out as his passenger in the Mazda Capella RATR2Y for the Rotary Revival Roll Racing event! 🚗💨 Since passengers over 18 are allowed, it was the perfect opportunity to get the next generation involved in roll racing and drag racing culture 🙌

Steve and Steph had an absolute blast hitting the track and battling it out in roll racing action! 💪 Unfortunately RATR2Y got knocked out in the second round, but that didn’t stop the team from having an awesome night surrounded by great people, awesome customers, and plenty of tough SDR-built cars 🔥

The best part? RATR2Y will be back soon with some fresh upgrades and ready for another crack at roll racing 👀⚙️

Big thanks to everyone who came out and supported the event — we can’t wait for the next one! ❤️🏁

Rob bought this Mazda RX4 back in 1993 when he was just 17 years old from his mate’s uncle 🚗💨

He drove it throughout high school then decided to remove the 13B bridgeport to get his RX3 coupe running, sold the RX3 coupe, then parked the RX4 away in his Dad’s shed in 1998. Life moved on — Rob joined the military 🇦🇺, travelled the world ✈️, got married ❤️ and raised two kids 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

Fast forward to when Rob’s daughter reached driving age, she asked:
“Dad… why don’t we get the old RX4 in the shed running again?” 🔥

That’s when Rob realised 13B engines weren’t exactly $699 off the shelf anymore 😅

Rob got in touch with us here at SDR Motorsport, and we got to work 🔧

We supplied and fitted a mild ported 13B RX4 engine into the RX4, bringing this family-owned classic back to life and back onto the road where it belongs 🙌🔥

Nothing better than seeing an old dream revived for the next generation 💙

A proper full-circle moment for this Mazda 626 🙌🔥

A few months ago, Rhys and his brother reached out to the SDR Motorsport team to bring their 626 back to life. During the chat, Rhys mentioned that Steve had actually worked on the car over 25 years ago 👀 — and while it didn’t ring a bell at first, the second the car rolled into the workshop… it all came flooding back 🤯

We got straight into it, starting with removing the Series 4 13B 🔧

While Steph was busy porting and rebuilding the engine 🛠️, Steve and Jacob got to work stripping out the old fuel system, tank, and spare wheel well. From there, we stepped things up with a brand new 247 Hose & Fittings fuel system and tank ⛽

The build didn’t stop there…
✔️ Custom radiator & oil cooler setup ❄️
✔️ Full custom exhaust fabrication 🔥
✔️ Haltech ECU wired and ready ⚡
✔️ Dyno tuned to bring it all together 📈

Now Rhys and his brother are back behind the wheel, enjoying the car again while running it in before the final tune 🚗💨
