The roadhouse had no idea it was even out there telling people there was “NO FUEL” for the past couple of weeks.

You’ve got to wonder how much business they’ve lost because of that. Travellers, trucks, locals all bypassing based on wrong information.

Will whoever is responsible for that sign take any accountability for the impact it’s had. Or does the roadhouse just wear the loss.

The Barrier Highway has reopened to all traffic.
Council maintains traffic control onsite.
Motorists are advised to drive with extreme caution and to strictly follow instruction of traffic controllers.
The Water level at the centre of the road is 180 mm. On the edges of the road the water level is 380 mm.
There are two potholes which have recently appeared.
The road was closed due to flooding just over a week ago.
At the start of the situation the level of water over the road, 23 kilometres west of Wilcannia, reached more than a metre deep.
On Council’s website there are some photos showing the timeline of the flooding situation.
Special mention to the team at ABC Broken Hill who have been helping keep everyone informed and updated about the flooding issues and highway closure.

We are open for Petrol, food, coffee and alcohol.

Yes the road between Broken Hill and Wilcannia is open to trucks!

The Barrier Highway is OPEN to heavy vehicles and 4WD only.

👉Key points
▪️Barrier Highway - CLOSED to all light vehicles

▪️Traffic can only travel in one direction alternating on the centre line of the road. Council traffic control onsite

▪️The detour via the Wilcannia-Menindee Road (east and west) are open with caution (unsealed road)

▪️The Central Darling Shire and NSW Police are reminding motorists to obey all road signs and drive to the road conditions
