In over 50yrs in the yachting industry I've learned that every part of a boat's rigging, from the wires to the turnbuckles, has a finite lifespan. For optimal safety and maintenance, it's essential to address the entire system at once.
In this instance I'd say the stays have been replaced at least a couple of times using the old turnbuckles.

The importance of regular thorough rig inspections of older rigs is evident in this recent survey.

Our first ever job in Mission Beach NQ. A rig survey of a Beneteau 45, prepping for the Coral Coast Rally. Coincidently I was the commodore of Abel Point Yacht back when the 'Dent to Dunk Race and Rally was incepted. In more recent times, the event has depleted somewhat and renamed to the Coral Coast Rally with no race division and a small yet loyal fleet of 'ralliers'.
