That's exactly why we run Her Car Confidence at Webbie's Mechanical. A done-with-you workshop, in a real mechanical workshop, designed to empower women to feel at home around their car.

What the day looks like:

– Welcomed in by Scott and me
– Overalls on (supplied)
– Pop the bonnet, learn where everything is
– Check oil, coolant, lights
– Safety procedures around a vehicle
– Time on your own car and on other vehicles
– Hands-on: pump up tyres, change a tyre, change a battery, change wipers
– Grazing platter for lunch

The truck just didn't feel right.

The rear end felt **heavy, bouncy, and wallowy**.
The leaf springs were squeaking over every bump.

The owner had been putting up with it for a while, hoping it would get better.

It didn't.

When we inspected it, the problem was obvious.

The leaf springs had gone flat — actually bending the opposite way they should.

No load capacity.
No proper suspension travel.
Just a rough ride and a spring getting closer to failure.

We fitted a new set of springs, got the ride height back where it should be, and the truck was back to carrying weight properly again.

very cold morning, the Mitsubishi Fuso was hard to start.

Not every now and then.
Every morning.

The batteries were good.
The starter was turning it over.

But something still wasn't right.

So we dug a little deeper.

The culprit?

A seized EGR valve that was allowing exhaust gases through all the time, even when it shouldn't.

That extra exhaust flow was affecting the engine's ability to start properly when cold.

We replaced the faulty EGR valve, checked everything else while we were there, and sent the truck back out.

Next cold morning?

Started exactly how it should.

Wondering what a Main Roads Roadworthy Accreditation check actually involves?

It's six categories — driveline, electrical, bodywork, chassis and suspension, brakes, and tyres / rims. Each one has its own catch-points. Weeping shocks. Wet diff seals dropping oil. Speed limiter not set to 100.
Blocked washer nozzles. Cracked rims. Air leaks on the foot brake. Pedal pads worn through.

We work through all of it. Best time to get it done? Bundled with your B service — most of the work overlaps anyway.
