Next up in the ultimate all-rounder N90 Hilux build… the airbox 🔧

One thing we see far too often through the workshop? Hilux and LandCruisers with airboxes that aren’t sealing properly.

And on a diesel, that can be a BIG problem.

Fine dust getting past the filter can work its way into the intake and start dusting the engine, wearing turbo components, cylinder walls and rings. The scary part? You might not know it’s happening until the damage is already done.

So on our own rig, we’re not taking the chance.

We’ve upgraded the factory setup to a Donaldson PowerCore air intake, giving us:

First up, we’re custom fitting an HPD oil catch can. Why, you might ask?

Modern diesels recirculate crankcase gases back into the intake. Along with those gases comes oil mist, which mixes with soot from the EGR and can build up as thick sludge in your intake manifold and on your valves.

Over time, that buildup can restrict airflow, impact performance and fuel economy, and lead to a costly intake clean down the track.

An HPD catch can traps that oil mist before it makes its way into your intake, helping keep things cleaner and protecting the system long term.

⚠️ FORD 2.0L ECOBLUE OWNERS, READ THIS BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE ⚠️

If you’re driving a Ford Ranger or Transit with the 2.0L EcoBlue or BiTurbo engine, there’s a problem hiding behind your timing cover and in your oil pan that most owners don’t find out about until it’s too late: the wet timing belt.

Unlike a traditional cam belt that runs dry in its own housing, the EcoBlue’s timing belt sits fully submerged in engine oil. Over time the belt material breaks down, softening, swelling, and shedding rubber debris straight into your oil.

That debris clogs the oil pickup strainer, starves the engine of oil pressure, and the result is bent valves, smashed pistons, and in the worst cases a completely destroyed engine.

It’s such a widespread issue that Ford has already wound back the recommended replacement interval, and plenty of workshops are seeing belts fail well before that. By the time the warning light comes on, the damage is usually already done.

🔧 At Jmac Performance & Diesel, we’ve got the specialised gear and the know-how to properly inspect and replace these belts, catching the problem before it turns into a multi-thousand-dollar engine rebuild.

Under the hood: a 393 stroker Cleveland, backed by a fully rebuilt C6 and transfer case. All new suspension and brakes top to bottom, upgraded power steering pump with all new steering linkages, CNC-cut body mounts for a perfect fit, and riv-nuts out back so the roof comes off in minutes flat. Custom-trimmed rear armrests to match the interior, a full re-wire with dual lithium batteries, new fuel system, and a custom dual side pipe exhaust to finish the sound off right.

Dyno’d + tuned, the perfect summer cruiser ☀️

Big day on the tools down at Rivers Edge, Docklands ⚓️

Full major service on twin MerCruiser 496 MAG engines, all filters, spark plugs, and fluids replaced to keep this 40ft Riviera running at its best.

Also gave the Onan gen-set (generator) the attention it needed, including replacing the salt water filter and housing after a cracked, perished top cover.

Two major services in one hit… just another day in the office 👊
