Our family began their love affair with collecting historic Australian racing cars back in 1973, when David Bowden bought the first car for the collection – the notorious Ford GTHO Phase IV. Since then, our family have dedicated their blood, sweat and tears to restoring and maintaining these vital pieces of Australian motor racing history. The car collection has grown to over 80+ cars that are hou
sed mostly on our Sunshine Coast property, as well as a few museums and showrooms throughout Australia. And it is due to our love of the cars in our collection, that we started our very own car care range – Bowden’s Own Premium Car Care. After years of using a well known “quality” car care brand we began to notice a lot of issues affecting many of our very loved cars. In 1999 We commissioned a local chemist to research, test and review what we had been using, plus many other “premium” car care products. To our surprise the majority of the products contained potentially damaging ingredients such as harmful silicones, acids and even corrosive salt. So we started on our long journey of developing and producing our own car care products, all created with a real quality, so we had something ideal for long term usage on our collection. Soon after, fans at car events started enquiring about the ‘no-name’ car care products we were using. We would freely give it out to a few of the fanatics who asked, and when our first “customers” came back (with their friends) at the next event asking for another bottle of product, we thought it might be some fun to look at making it more readily available for other car fans. When we began, we honestly never could have thought that the products would gain the popularity that they have today, (We started with one product, the salt free Auto Body Gel). But in 2002, Bowden’s Own Premium Car Care was born and started distribution throughout Autobarn and later Supercheap Auto, plus other independent stores Australia-wide. With every passing year, the product range continues to grow as we develop products with our needs to look after our and other fanatics cars in mind. We continually research develop and perfect our products, to ensure we produce, use, and offer car lovers the best possible formulas that are suitable for the Australian conditions, easy to use, give brilliant results and are most importantly, safe for your car. Once enthusiasts use our products, we find they love the results. Even if they don’t have a historic racing car they still love the beautiful finish and the fact that they are using products that are formulated with a real reason behind them, by an Aussie family who do it all right here in Australia. We have a strong belief in Australian manufacturing and proudly use local chemists, factories, packers, bottle makers, printers, box makers, labellers and numerous other facilities to keep the money here in our country, rather than send it all back overseas, like our competition does....
