Wax or Sealant or None?
Today I want to involve you in an comparison between some of my jobs done recently.
1) First picture is a photo of one of my cars' boot, waxed 2 weeks ago. Its ability in repelling water is amazing ! I really liked it when I see in reality it really works
2) Second picture is a photo of the roof of the same car. I put sealant on the roof 2 weeks age as well and as you can see Wax worked even better in proofing water. Obviously we cannot say this after several months !
3) Third picture is of the same car and its bonnet. Amazing ! because I waxed it 3 months ago and it still works. Not 100 per cent but repels most of water
4) It is not my work ! It is interesting that while this car is much newer than previous car, it has no ability in rejecting water.
I took these picture on today's rainy weather and they all were in the same condition, light and by the same camera (Samsung A5) !
CONCLUSION: No matter what make and model your car, if you don't wax your car (like the today's white Toyota Hiliux), it is really vulnerable against weather factors such as rain. And Meguiars Gold Class Carnauba works beyond my expectation and even better than sealant, of course in short term

Why Chamois Are A Sham

Recently an acquaintance of mine, for no particular reason, gifted me a chamois (sort of a weird gift, but whatever). Now, I’m not a fan of chamois, and I don’t recommend them. So while it was a thoughtful gift, I won’t be using it. Below I’ll break down why, and how you could save yourself a few headaches by skipping the chamois as well.

Usage
So basically, here’s how a chamois works: you spread it out on your wet car and drag it towards yourself to dry the car. While a chamois does absorb some water it essentially acts like a squeegee and pushes the water off the car. This can be problematic for one glaring reason. The chamois itself is a flat surface so when it comes into contact with the surface of the wet car it creates a sort of suction, with no cushion in between the chamois and the paint. Now let’s say there are a few particles of dirt left on the surface before you spread out the chamois. You’ll be dragging that dirt all across the surface of your paint, causing fine scratches. This could be even worse if you get a small rock stuck under there.

If, however, you were to use a microfiber towel to dry your car this becomes a non-issue. There is no suction created when using a microfiber towel so there is no pressure pushing small particles into your paint. Microfiber is very plush and has tons of little “fingers” that trap dirt and lift it away from the surface. Waffle weave microfiber towels are particularly absorbent, and are great at keeping small particles off the surface so they don’t scratch your car.

Maintenance
Here’s another area where using a chamois is a total pain. First of all, you can’t just use it right out of the package; you’re first required to “condition” it. You have to hand wash it in order to remove excess cod oil before you can ever use it to dry the car. Otherwise it won’t even work as it’s supposed to. Additionally, you can never machine wash or dry a chamois. A chamois must be hand washed, stretched, and then hang dried.

None of this is an issue if you were to use a microfiber towel. Besides the fact that you can use it right out of the package, it’s completely machine washable. You can wash microfiber in warm water and dry on low or no heat. If you don’t mix loads (wash only microfiber with other microfiber) and skip the fabric softener, you’re all set.

So basically…don’t use a chamois. They’re a pain to take care of and really aren’t as safe to use as advertised. I know I’ve been hyping up microfiber a lot, but keep in mind that not all microfiber is created equally

Top 5 Reasons You Should Wax Your Car

Most everyone has heard that it’s a good idea to regularly wax their car, but not everybody knows why. We get asked all the time what benefits people can gain by waxing their car, so we decided to post a few great reasons here for all to see. Read on to find out more…

1 -Shine – Well here’s one we all know. You want a shiny car right? Wax is the easiest way to get your car looking glossy and new. A carnauba based wax generally will provide wonderful depth and clarity, though modern synthetic paint sealants have taken big leaps in this area and there are some fantastic options out there that will provide a great shine as well.

2- Protection From Airborne Contaminants – If your paint is left unprotected by a wax or other sealant then it’s at risk. Bugs, acid rain, and other corrosive materials can settle into your paint and etch it, causing damage nothing short of repainting can fix (this is expensive BTW). A layer of wax will create a barrier between your paint and the rest of the world so that these contaminants become embedded in the wax instead of your car.

3- Easy Washing – One great reason to wax your car that many people might not know is that a wax will make you car MUCH easier to get clean. When you inevitably get bugs, sap, and all other sorts of things dripping onto your car the wax will prevent them from making contact with your paint. They will then be wiped away with a car wash or will come off when the wax is removed. Without a coat of wax these things may need a full detail to be properly removed.

4- Prevent Paint Chips – Little paint chips can occur when you’re driving at high speeds and tiny rocks and stones jump up and hit your paint. Car wax smoothes the paint surface and will reduce the friction between debris and your car, meaning that tiny debris is more likely to slide off your car rather than damage it. This will help prevent your car from becoming the victim of little rock and paint chips which are not only unsightly but can be expensive to repaint correctly. Of course, there are other reasons to have a freshly waxed car on the highway as well.

5- Fills In Scratches – Make no mistake, wax will NOT remove scratches from your car. But it can fill some of them in. When shallow scratches are filled in by wax they become much less apparent, or not noticeable at all. Filling in scratches can be a preferable alternative to removing them because it doesn’t require the removal of any clear coat.

Which color fades the fastest?

Under most circumstances, red fades the fastest of all visible colors. Short-wavelength light such as blue or violet has greater energy than lower-wavelength light, and red has the longest wavelength of visible colors. Red objects reflect red light but absorb harmful, energy-rich, short-wavelength light.
Many factors contribute to fading processes, including the physical and chemical structures of the object, the type of dyes or pigments present, the amount and intensity of light, and the temperature and humidity of the environment. When light, particularly ultraviolet light, which has a very short wavelength, hits an object, the energy contained within interacts with the exposed surface. The new energy excites the outer molecules of the object causing chemical bonds, thus reducing the vibrancy of the color and the strength of the object over time. Color and molecular damage can never be repaired.

WILL AN AUTOMATIC CAR WASH HURT MY CAR?
The answer really depends on the type of automatic car wash you’re taking it through, but the short answer to this very common question is: Absolutely do not take your vehicle through the automatic car wash because it IS very bad for your vehicle’s paint finish!

Let’s talk about some of the the different kinds of car washes.

First, there’s the tunnel car wash with spinning “brushes.” I always refer to these as swirl-o-matics! You can spend all day and night polishing a car to perfection, and completely ruin it in one trip through this type of car wash. These are typically very abrasive, and the dirt, grime, and abrasive debris from all of the other vehicles that have gone through the “swirl-o-matic” is now being applied to your car at a high rate of speed. “Scratch, ding, OUCH!” Avoid these at all costs and only go through unless someone has a gun to your head!

Finally there is the “touchless,” or “laser wash” places. These don’t get the vehicles as clean, but they are a lot more safe than the other types of washes. I’d rather have a partially dirty car than a clean one with swirls and scratches than what you get with the other types of washes. The biggest drawback to these however is that they use pretty harsh chemicals to do the “cleaning” so I wouldn’t recommend using them on a “regular” basis. At one time we did some advertising at the local car wash and the owner of the wash place told me about a time that their “rinse” cycle didn’t work, and the “ACID” that they use for soap dried on the paint and ruined it, costing the car wash place a few thousand dollars to make it up to the customer.

So what about the places that do hand washes? If it’s a volume based place with an assembly line of people working there, you’re probably getting the same abrasive kind of wash as an automatic car wash would provide. Unless you find a professional detailer that is schooled on the 2-bucket method of car washing, it’s going to be very difficult to receive a scratch-free wash.
