Just some information for people with hail damage cars:
Yes, Full Comprehensive insurance generally covers Hail Damage.
Most crash repairers will be fully booked for months with the backlog from today’s hail. It’s likely that a great many cars may be written off. If repairable, they will likely make your car safe to drive and book you in when a slot is open.
If you’re windscreen is cracked or shattered, it’s not safe to drive, so call your insurer direct. Do not use your ‘free windscreen replacement’, as that may count as a claim on your history; the rest of the car is likely damaged, so a full claim is required. You can get the windscreen fixed whilst you await repairs and the windscreen falls under ‘emergency repairs’ on most policies.
As there are so many claims, it is likely the phone lines will be clogged, especially with RAA insurance as they are only in SA.
If you can’t get through on the phone, try to lodge your claim online. Otherwise you can email you insurer directly, include your rego number or policy number in the subject line and give a full description of the event. Be sure to include all your contact details as well as date and time.

The same also applies to damaged property from the storm, in most cases it’s covered by insurance, so before you get in contractors to clean up, call your insurer.
Hope that helps.
