The little 302 Windsor that is in Car 74 Kam163 GT Falcon has travelled the world and around Australia a couple times with Lawrie & Jim. Built by Hayden Bennett @ Precision Tech Race Engines in 1992 it was put together with the intensions of being extremely reliable while still providing enough mumbo to send the big Falcon hurtling down dirt roads at over 190km/h.
'H' doing what he does best got the recipe just right. It's done the 93 LSM, 95 Round Australia, a couple of Tour to Adelaide events as well as the odd rally or 2 and a couple of trips from QLD to Victoria over the last 30 years. Virtually untouched that whole time, it was lifted out just before this event only to receive a few gaskets, seals and a timing cover.

Bit of KAM163 history. The vehicle was built alongside the 3 factory Ford team cars (KAG001, KAG002 & KAG003) for the 68 London to Sydney Marathon.
Unfortunately KAM163 did not finish the 68 event after it suffered gearbox damage in Turkey. Lawrie has had the car since the early 80's. At times it was used as a grocery getter by Joy and for a bit of fun cruising around.
When the 93 LSM was announced Lawrie together with his great mate Jim Rosenow decided to give it a crack.
Long story short the boys entered what would be one of the biggest adventures of their lives. The blokes from country Victoria gave it to the world and very nearly came out on top, with several stage wins even an almost unheard of special stage win in the 9 minute vicinity! Running 3rd on the last day of the event near Canberra disaster struck and a broken axle cost then time rendering them to finish 55th.
But that did not stop them, they were back at it a couple years later

Welcome everyone. Started this page to track our journey for the 2022 Perth to Sydney Marathon. Lots of people would already know Laurie's GT Falcon competed in the 1968 London to Sydney and again in the 1993 LSM.
This year there is a tribute event to the previous events with a Perth to Sydney trip starting on the 28th October. We departed Hervey Bay this morning for Perth. 600km down and counting, just a few to go!
