🏆 WOW, what a surprise we woke up to! 🏆
We have been nominated as a finalist in the 2026 Central Coast Commerce Business Awards.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate us for this award; your support inspires us and makes us feel appreciated and proud of our journey.
Why this nomination means a lot to the team. Sharing a brief overview of owning and running a small business, we hope you get a better understanding of what happens behind the scenes and our dedication to what we do.
Owning and running a business is hard; what they don't tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drain you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid-back people. We appreciate all our customers' understanding and support through these challenges.
People will talk about you, compare you to others, and use you; they will see you as a service, not a person.
Friends and family will expect discounts, and people will value you and your hard work less than a big chain store. (Even though we are a Repco service centre, we are an independent family business, but Repco has authorised us as a recommended repairer).
You must worry that if you forget to email/message someone back, they'll think it was on purpose. Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When you can't get to everyone's messages and emails instantly, sometimes one may just get missed, not on purpose either.
Starting and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, and many fail because there's often no work-life balance. You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner.... All whilst being a parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend... It's one of the hardest things you will try to balance.
People forget that you aren't just paying for the job to be done. You're paying for decades of experience, professional tools, professional products, wages, leases, licences and insurances, and everyday overhead costs. Prices rise because our suppliers raise their prices to us, and we can't always cover them all, so we try our best to keep them as low as possible. People forget we are just normal people with hectic lives, too, but we will always be committed to our customers.
Being nominated by the people we serve and care about means a lot to us as owners and to the whole team that makes up our small business; every time a customer comes, it helps keep local jobs alive and lets us keep serving the community we love and appreciate.
So, thank you to those who nominated us; it means a lot to know that people are grateful that, as a small business, we can keep serving you.
