Engine finally sorted. The gasket upside-down for two years. Hot at high speed and broken water flow at the telltale low speed. Should not be that hard to see the position the gasket takes on assembly.!@ #$

Once again I struggle with fixing these older engines. Perfect looking engines on the outside. Less than 20 hrs in their whole 20 years lifetime. THAT IS THE ISSUE. These two fourty Yamahas on a small Broardbill have spent all of their time unused. Every water passage blocked, water pumps stuffed, cables seized, carbies, six of them, full of what looks like honey, not fuel, every jet blocked to some extent. Butterflies tight and corroded. Hours, I've lost track. Not even allowing for broken bolts, helicoils and new bolts. Parts in the thousands. Is the heartache worth it. I find it extremely hard, the longer it takes for me to get to the point in time, when I hear them finally start.

Out of the box in the morning, on the boat in the afternoon. Great fit up and water tested the next day. The lightest three cylinder on the market today. Performed very well.

Electric start install, great kit for old shoulders. Reality is these are a well made accessorie and for some well worth the cost.

Just giving these wonderful engines a bit of a birthday. This is a patrol boat. Maybe, in extremely bad conditions, members of the public would happily be rescued by this boat. The officer and crew member might just not know the risk of ever getting home. I'm sorry and this might cause some issues, but these boats belong in the auctions. Especially when fourteen years old. Too many crosses and not enough ticks. The boat has seen little use for some time and there in lies the story. Changing over the power units should just be a years thing. Reliability and safety paramount. Rescue vessels on the water every month, any problems sorted pronto. I could go and bang on with all the mechanical problems here but I guess I'm going to see if it can be fixed to just run. Not just a service will sort it. It has a seized throttle butterfly from not being open so I don't know what the insides are going to even sound like. Go through all this and it throws a rod out the crankcase, where to then.?????

Lot of interest in new engines, at the strangest time of the year. Entering the colder months now, its a bit out of the ordinary. Lots of stock in the warehouse so delivery is not an issue.
