❄️ NOT YOUR AVERAGE A/C REPAIR! 🔧

A bit of a bigger job through the workshop this time!

This one came in with a failed A/C evaporator and unfortunately, it’s buried right behind the dash. So there was only one way to get to it… dash out! 😬

A fair bit has to come apart just to replace one component, but that’s all part of the job.

📸 Before – You’d never know what was about to happen

🔧 During – Dash out and everything stripped back to get to the evaporator

👌 After – New evaporator fitted, everything back together where it belongs and the A/C blowing nice and cold again! 🥶

Always satisfying seeing a job like this go from looking like half the car is missing to being completely back together again.

🚗 OLD VS NEW — BRAKES MATTER! 🛑

Sometimes you don't realise just how much wear your brakes have until you put the old and new parts side by side!

These photos show the difference between a worn brake rotor and a brand-new rotor, followed by an old brake pad vs a new brake pad.

That old brake pad has definitely seen better days! 😳 Once your pads and rotors get this worn, you're not just looking at reduced braking performance — you can also end up damaging other brake components and turning a simple brake job into a much bigger repair.

If your brakes are squealing, grinding, vibrating, pulling to one side, or just don't feel quite right, don't ignore them.

Get your brakes checked before a small problem becomes a big one.

Lana is still early in her apprenticeship, but she’s already become a valued part of the Hughes Mechanical team. She’s always keen to have a go, learn something new and get her hands dirty in the workshop.

There’s plenty more to learn and plenty of spanners to turn, but she’s off to a great start! 🔧 🔥

🔧 Hughes Mechanical Maryborough is growing, and we’re looking for an Office Administrator to join our busy workshop! 🔧

We’re searching for someone who is friendly, organised, reliable and confident dealing with customers to help keep our front office running smoothly.

Your day-to-day role will include:
• Answering phone calls and customer enquiries
• Serving and assisting customers at the front counter
• Ordering parts and liaising with suppliers
• Preparing quotes
• General office administration including social media
• Helping keep the workshop organised behind the scenes

Experience in the mechanical or automotive industry would be a great advantage, particularly if you’re familiar with parts and quoting, but we’re happy to consider applicants with strong administration and customer service experience.

🏫 Need hours that work around school?
We can offer flexible hours to suit school hours for the right person.

💰 Hourly rate will be discussed at the interview and will depend on experience.

We’re a growing, busy mechanical workshop, so we’re looking for someone who can communicate well, stay organised and become a valued part of the Hughes Mechanical team.

SUMMER IS COMING — KEEP YOUR COOL! ☀️

Summer is just around the corner, and while we’re all looking forward to warmer days, your vehicle’s cooling system might not be quite as excited! 😂

When the temperatures start to rise, your engine relies heavily on its cooling system to keep everything running at the right temperature. Coolant is a big part of that job. 🌡️🚗

Low coolant, old coolant or a cooling system that isn’t working properly can quickly turn into an overheated engine — and nobody wants that happening on a hot summer day!

Before the summer heat really kicks in, it’s worth making sure your coolant is at the correct level and your cooling system is in good shape.
