The end of the year is approaching and I thought I'd inform everyone who sees our 1-2 posts a year that we will be closed for a well earned break from the 22nd of December and back to work on the 5th of January.
Unfortunately, no more appointments are available for this year.

It's been a while between posts (a belated merry Xmas, happy new year, happy Easter) so I thought I'd post this job up.

Mazda CX-5 2.2 litre diesel. A very well known issue with these engines are the injector nozzle washers failing around 100,000km. What then happens is carbon build up in the oil system that gets caught in the pick-up and low oil pressure is the end result.

Luckily we only had one injector that had a badly failed washer.
A clean of the injector tubes, new nozzle washers and seals for the top of the motor. We then remove the sump and drop the oil pump and balance shaft assembly to replace the plastic pickup.

Volkswagen loves to innovate (sometimes for the better)
This is a water pump from the twincharger 1.4 litre engine (super and turbo charged).
It has the added feature of an electromagnetic clutch to switch the driving force to the supercharger on and off. Quite well known for becoming noisy even with low km engines.

I love getting creative with limited resources. We didn't have access to any nut-serts today to repair the rusted captive nut for the sway bar link mount. We got creative and drilled a hole through the top of a bolt, steel backing from a wiper rubber to allow us to move it into position and a new nut sorted the issue.

It's been a very productive year so we are taking a break from Friday the 14th of July till the 23rd for some well earned R&R.

On Wednesday we celebrated a full year in operation, and what a year! We would like to say thank you to everyone who has helped us on this journey. It's overwhelming to see how busy we became in such a short time through word of mouth advertising.

Onwards and upwards!

This tidy 79 series was treated to 2 inch lift springs, 500kg constant load rear springs, castor correction front control arm bushes and quality Bilstein shocks absorbers.

Timing belt due for replacement? This one was overdue by about 20,000km. On an interference motor this would have been an expensive fix if it had broken!

We got called to a Volkswagen golf that was overheating within a minute of driving. We noticed a leak from the water pump on the back of the cylinder head which is very common. The radiator fan was only pulling cold air through so we had a water flow issue on our hands. The water pump unit also houses the thermostat so we thought a new water pump unit and belt will sort all the issues in one foul swoop if it did have a stuck thermostat or a water pump impeller issue.
We found the pump had seized and stripped the belt off all its teeth. We cleaned the drive pulley and all the debris, bolted the new water pump on and the golf was on its way again.
