🌊 WAVE ROCK

Rising out of the Wheatbelt near Hyden, WA - Wave Rock looks like it’s been frozen mid crash, a giant 15 metre high granite “wave” that stretches around 110 metres long. But despite the name, there’s no ocean here… just millions of years of natural sculpting.

Here are a few cool facts you might not know:

• 🌧️ The wave shape was formed by water erosion and chemical weathering, slowly carving the softer rock beneath
• 🎨 The grey stripes are created by minerals being washed down the rock face by rainwater
• 📍 It’s part of a much larger rock formation called Hyden Rock, which is basically a giant exposed granite hill
• 📸 It’s one of the most photographed natural landmarks in Western Australia and it absolutely earns it

Standing at Wave Rock feels a bit surreal, perfect reminder that some of the best stops aren’t planned… they’re discovered.
