No nasty surprises inside engine thankfully. Appears to have actually had very little use.
Very little wear on chassis and engine components which is great for whoever buys this once we finish the restoration.
Clutch hub and basket even in very decent shape for being 37 years old.
We will go 1 oversize on piston and have cylinder bored and then replace conrod and all bearings.

If you want to stop replacing lower head stem bearings, do this mod.
Remove the steering stem lock key barrel and cover and fill with a sealant.
No more rusted out lower head stem bearings as water can no longer enter via this unsealed area.
Lets face it, no one uses a head stem lock anyway. Very easily broken if some scumbag really wants the bike and for most bikes after changing hands at leas once, I would be surprised if anyone actually has a key for theirs.

Project RMX250S

HydroBlasting all aluminium parts won’t be happening on this build as broken power valve amongst a few other unseen repairs have blown the budget so l dragged out the sofa blasting gun today and cleaned up the hubs. Came out to a satisfactory standard.
Makes a mess but dissolved with water so easily cleaned up.

Ouch. Wasn’t expecting a broken power valve. That adds another $350 to the build. 😬

Project - RMX250 has commenced.
1998 model.
*Every bearing will be replaced.
*Engine fully rebuilt.
*Wheels stripped and re-laced.
*Frame re-painted with factory 24K colour and then 2K clear coated.
*Forks rebuilt with new seals and bush kit.
*New graphics kit on its way thanks to Willmax Graphics

Once complete will be a really good, reliable 2 stroke enduro beast.
This one we are keeping once completed.
