Happy Friday Night boys & girls,
Well it's not every day that Precision Turbo & Engine themselves do a write up about one of our customer cars, so what better time to circle back to Rob Trans "IOMG" (Kyalami Orange interior) G80 M3 Competition xDrive build, aka the Green Machine. π
https://www.facebook.com/share/1Lbv4Mo4tr/
For those that missed it, the car recently smashed our own Australian 100-200km/h dragy record with an eye watering 2.70 second run, following the upgrade to a Precision Next Gen 8080 turbocharger. πππ
We had previously done a 3.30 second run on Pure Turbos 2+ hybrids and the car felt quick, but on 46psi of Boost pressure from the screaming jet 8080 the top-end is beyond ridiculous for a car you can still comfortably drive to the shops & back for a carton of milk. π
I wasn't able to get the car onto a dyno before it's trip back to Melbourne, but we made 1,090hp at the Hubs and 1,361Nm of torque on the twins at 40/41psi of boost pressure. So given we chopped 0.60 seconds off the 3.30 record and a good portion of that is a reduction in time taken to go from 150-200km/h, we estimate whp to now be around 1,250-1,275 . πͺ
A highlight reel of performance upgrades are as follows;
Fabian@PureBoost (MHD Tuning) Custom E85 FlexFuel tune, Rod@Sutphin Tuning Custom TCU tune, entirely Sydney built engine with the usual suspects from CP, Carrillo, ARP, GSC Power Division etc etc' and considerable cylinder head porting (where it counts) with an in-house developed custom cylinder head gasket sealing solution, Pure Drivetrain Solutions Stage 2 transmission with upgraded high stall torque converter and transfer case, CSF Radiators billet intake manifold & heat exchanger, Port Injection fueling upgrades from Injector Dynamics (1,700cc injectors), MOTIV Motorsport Reflex+ Port Injection controller, standalone LPFP system via Precision Raceworks AFS800 for PI rail feed, KLM Race T4 divided manifold with twin screamer pipes & fancy oil catch can, Precision Next Gen 8080 Sportsman turbocharger flowing through a huge custom fabricated 4.5" DP into a 4" midpipe and a full-noise/full-send dump valve that provides maximum engine performance when required.
The car is also equipped with KW suspensions V3 coilovers, a plethora of SPL adjustable arms, a trick wheel alignment, East Coast Driveline billet rear axles and carbon fibre driveshaft. The car runs on Nitto NT555R2's and my very own 19x10.5" Square HRE Performance Wheels R101 lightweights when the dragy is putting in some work. π
The G80 M3 is a basically a tick all the boxes build, save the addition of a ductile iron sleeved block. Hence the reason to stop at somewhere close to the 1,300whp mark and make the car quicker through further vehicle optimisation, instead of just slamming more boost into the factory block. π
Cheers,
JD.
