Jason Alan Cutts Engineered and Raced

The Jacer Formula Vee was born in 1995. Jason Cutts aged 19, decided to design and build a Formula Vee that encompased all the performance qualities of existing Vees, however the biggest goal was to make it look like a Formula Ford and be extra safe. The “Cutts” was first concepted in early 1994, construction went from August 1994 to August 1995. Although Jason studied Telecommunications, he studied and topped Engineering Science at school, along with Metalwork. In fact, Jason’s first braze weld was done on the original chassis, and he took to Nickel Bronze welding like a duck to water. Originally, the name would be ” Cutts” , however, Jason wanted the car to have his name in its identity, so as not to confuse a chassis he built with one his brother David would build. The original car was named Cutts – Jacer, a combination of Jason and Racer, and also standing for the above acronym. However, all other cars were named Jacer, and a chassis identity described its year of manufacture and chassis number, for example, 98-8 is a Jacer constructed in 1998, and being the 8th Jacer ever built. In 2000, the naming changed to being the category initial and the year of manufacture, eg, V2k, with the chassis number only appearing on the chassis plate. The change was introduced as Jacer was preparing to enter Formula Ford as a manufacturer, until Ford announced changes, and the project was halted. It qualified last after teething problems, however qualifying was actually the cars first ever run on a circuit. By the feature race, the Jacer had won, and so began a successful history for the marque.

Edit, I cant count ! Yesterday's success extends our nationals wins at the top as a brand to 14 since 1997, 13 wins for winning engines in 1200 and 1600. For us it's an important stat as we we now tie with Elfin for wins going back to 1973. Those stats are due to the people who hold the wheel, we just supply the product. Thank you to all who have contributed, they're your stats.

More irony from the weekend was that is was the first race in 15 months for both winning cars after they were involved in an accident together at SMP last year

The morning after a big weekend. Great results for the brand with first and second in both the 1200 and 1600 classes, first and second engines in 1200, first and third engines in 1600, first both classes for the second year in a row. Unique situation for Effie now with podiums in both 1600 (second in WA) and 1200 (win at one raceway). Even more synergy in yesterday's results were Effie's win in 1200 and Effie's normal motor third in 1600. Thanks to all who support the brand over the years and thank to all who supported the event and provide a great show across the field.

2 days to go before entries close for the 2026 National Challenge at One Raceway. Currently we have 23 1200 modern and historic vees and 33 for the 1600 class. There's still time to enter but time is running out.
