Here are some technical specs of our aero package on the Shockworks WTAC clubsprint car.
The brief was simple, max downforce for a 1000hp car capable of setting a lap record on SMSP. The parts commissioned would be a combination system with our newly developed Universal Diffuser Sideskirts which would synergize with a concept not commonly seen, an out washing splitter design.
With 2 months to further develop and rnd a working aero package with CFD as well as the moulds for the new parts and approximately 250-300hrs of rnd and production. We achieved a splitter package which would match competitors within 5% and as a package exceeded in all areas, front downforce, rear downforce as well as drag reduction.
Numerically we produced over 215kg of front downforce at 160km/h and reduced drag by 30%.
Our skirts improved on conventional designs netting total downforce in most configurations instead of loss as well as an improved drag reduction with outwash elements.
Combined with the out washing splitter diffuser, they increased performance by 17%. This could not be done without the aid of CFD to visualize air streams.
It's to be seen how much of the CFD is validated in real life however it can be noted that even in the weakest configuration, they still out perform typical designs in a specialized ruleset such as clubsprint.
New time attack parts have already begun RND for next year and CFD will be continually iterated upon.
