Young Aussies Scoring Big on the World Stage. Yamaha’s awesome new YZF-R7 enjoyed its first FIM Superbike World Championship win with Aussie Carter Thompson winning Race Two last weekend at Cremona, in Italy’s Lombardy region, and setting a new lap record. Carter is an ex-Red Bull Rookie from Newcastle making it big in World SBK.

Meanwhile in AUS, 13-year-old wonderkid Blake Bohannon has added to his 85cc world title by winning the MX85 class of the World MXGP in Australia. The event was held 18–20 September at the Hidden Valley Motorsports Complex in Darwin, Northern Territory. Next stop for Blake is the MX of Nations BLU CRU cup on a Yamaha YZ125. This event will be held October 2 to 4, 2026, at the Circuit Raymond Demy in Ernée, France.

Chris has been warming up to finally getting his new BMW S1000 XR from Procycles BMW Hornsby. He got back into riding on a smaller BMW F900 XR before moving up to this awesome upright superbike.

The BMW S1000 XR, is a high-performance sport-tourer that blends superbike engine power with long-distance upright comfort. The inline-four engine produces 170 hp at 11,000 rpm and torque of 84 lb-ft at 9,200 rpm. Below 6,000 revs, the S1000 XR is quite comfortable on the city’s streets; when Chris is out on the open road, the S1000 XR transforms into an aggressive sport bike, with all the power and characteristics of its RR stablemate.

It features semi-active Dynamic Electronic Suspension Adjustment, that smooths out bumpy roads while remaining firm enough for sharp cornering. It’s equipped with 320 mm twin front Brembo discs and BMW’s Integral ABS Pro for stable, sharp stopping power.

The Riding Modes include Rain, Road, Dynamic, and Dynamic Pro which adjusts throttle response and suspension settings. And the electronics suite has Dynamic Traction Control via a six-axis IMU, Cruise control, Heated grips, and a seamless up/down Quickshifter. all visible on the bright 6.5-inch TFT screen display, controlled via BMW's signature wonder wheel.

Max has been into BMW Adventure bikes forever. He’s owned an original 1200GS, two x 1250GS and currently has an R1300 GS. Now he’s carrying on the family tradition by picking up a new generation BMW F450 GS for his son to ride. And it’s great to see Max introducing another member to our Procycles BMW Sydney family.

Stuart was a Vespa rider back in the day. He came past Procycles Yamaha Hornsby to kick a few scooter tyres – mainly the Yamaha XMAX that he saw online. It looked a lot better in the flesh. A larger, more solid unit and definitely more comfortable than he imagined. We answered all the technical questions and he went away to think about it. A few weeks later he was back with his deposit in his hand. Stuart had done his research and confirmed what we had been saying. Scooters have come a long way since he last rode one. Particularly the Yamaha XMAX 300.

This premium, tech-loaded mid-sized scooter blends motorcycle-like stability with practical urban commuting. It’s powered by a smooth, liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine producing 28 hp (20kW) and 29Nm of torque, making it LAMS-approved. The XMAX easily cruises at highway speeds and tops out around 145 km/h.

The suspension features 33mm front forks and twin rear shocks, giving a plush ride is plush on good roads. It has generous 5-litre under-seat storage which fits two helmets or multiple shopping bags. Kent has taken his superbike riding up a notch. He has already ridden the wheels off his previous generation BMW S1000 RR, without any issues, so he knows how good this motorcycle really is. Now he’s ready for an even better one – a new BMW S1000 RR Race model.

The BMW S 1000 RR Race is a track-focused superbike package that builds on the standard RR platform with upgraded performance components and an extensive electronics suite. Power output is 210 hp (154 kW) at 13,750 rpm, with a top speed of over 300 km/h. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and only weighs 198 kg fully fuelled.

The Race package includes M Forged Wheels wrapped with a wider 200-section rear tyre. Plus, an Akrapovič sports silencer / with titanium-accented exhaust components and an M Endurance Chain. Included in the electronics package is the Dynamic Package with Dynamic Damping Control electronic suspension, Heated grips, Cruise control, Riding Modes Pro and Tyre Pressure Monitoring. The overall look is set off with the M Billet Pack and the functional wind-tunnel-developed winglets provide downforce at high track speeds.

Chris was after a track day bike that he could occasionally ride on the road. He started by looking at our BMW Demo offers at Procycles BMW Hornsby. He test rode an S1000 RR Sport and was comparing it to Yamaha’s R1. Chris also rode the R1 and it seemed to fit him better. He went away to think about both bikes for a while, then he was back to put his deposit down on the Yamaha – our last Black R1.

This iconic motorcycle is the pride of the Yamaha fleet. The YZ-F R1 houses an explosive 998cc CP4 crossplane engine which produces roughly 200 horsepower, pulling hard and smooth into the high rev ranges, and all controlled by a comprehensive electronics suite.

The R1 features lightweight Brembo Stylema monobloc front brake callipers paired with a Brembo master cylinder to offer outstanding braking power and exceptional feel. There is also a fully adjustable hi-spec KYB front fork offering excellent response, road feel and chassis performance.

Then there’s the bike’s renowned handling character. Carbon fibre winglets not only add to the R1’s sleek, aerodynamic look, they create additional downforce for enhanced front-end feel when braking or cornering. Reviewers consistently note that the Yamaha R1 handles more like a nimble middleweight bike but with the raw power of a superbike. And this is what won Chris over. He came in the following weekend to pick it up and couldn't have been more excited. The Yamaha R1 is $33,749 ride away.

Marcos bought one of our Procycles quality used BMWs with complete confidence. Like many of our used bikes, this BMW S1000 R was originally purchased from us at Procycles BMW Sydney in 2020 and has had its many services completed by us. It might be six years old, but after the bike went through our 40-point workshop health check and complete restore for delivery process, it came out the other end looking like new. When Marcos came in to pick it up it was raining heavily, but that didn’t deter him. He was just pumped to be getting a new motorcycle. With 121kW [165hp] waiting for him in this high-performance naked roadster, we don’t blame him.

But Its OK. Marcos has multiple riding modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic), Race ABS and Dynamic Traction Control working for him – a big plus when you are riding in the wet.

Evan was really enjoying riding his BMW M1000 R, super-fast, the best tech and a real adrenaline pumping ride. But Evan wanted to go touring. He didn’t want to lose the excitement - he just wanted a bit more comfort.

Evan found everything he wanted in the BMW M1000 XR Competition from Procycles BMW Sydney at St Peters.

This ultra-high-performance sport-touring crossover with a ShiftCam inline-four engine (derived from the S 1000 RR) pumps out 201 hp (147 kW) at 12,000–14,600 rpm. The M XR is equipped with M winglets generating significant downforce for high-speed stability and extensive carbon fibre body panels (fenders, side panels, tank trim). It has the M Billet Pack which upgrades the adjustable footrests and levers, plus a M GPS-Laptrigger activation code and software and an M Lightweight Battery and M Endurance chain.
