A pretty cool one we’ve got in the workshop at the moment — this Evo 1 racecar is getting a full rebuild and a heap of upgrades before heading back out on track.

The old setup is being completely freshened up, with a fully built engine from top to bottom and a bunch of upgrades to bring the rest of the car up to scratch.

While it’s apart we’ll be fitting:

• Haltech IC-7 dash
• Full sensor package to suit the Haltech ECU
• Fully built engine, top to bottom
• GTR coils running true sequential ignition
• Radium fuel system
• Flex fuel setup
• New trigger setup

Once everything is back together, we’ll also be handling the full engine run-in process, making sure everything is checked over and working as it should before we start leaning on it.

Plenty of work ahead on this one, but it should be a seriously cool package once it’s all finished.

Full built early 7 Bolt!
Big turbo and one hell of a fuel system!
Lots of fruit on this and I can’t wait to get it run in and on the dyno making some proper numbers!

Another Mitsubishi Magna — 3.8L Swapped & Dialled In!

This 2002 Magna came into RAP Motorsport already sporting a 3.8L swap, but there were a few things left to sort out after the manual conversion — along with getting a little more out of the setup.

Work carried out:
• Custom dyno tune
• TCL warning light issues fixed from the manual conversion
• Cruise control restored and working with the manual setup
• Fuel pump upgrade
• 3.8L intake manifold upgrade
• General setup and checks on the dyno
• Along with a few of our little tricks to make this a healthy platform

📈 Before: 135kW
🚀 After: 154kW

A healthy 19kW gain — and we’d consider this around the minimum gain you’d expect from this combination.

The car is still running a completely standard exhaust system, standard non ported lower manifold and the goal here wasn’t to chase an all-out power figure. We kept the tune sensible and focused on making the car perform properly while retaining a reliable, street-friendly setup.

There’s definitely more left in this combination with the right supporting modifications, particularly freeing up the exhaust.

More importantly, the car is now properly sorted after the manual conversion, with working cruise control, the TCL issues taken care of and a much nicer overall package to drive.

These older Magnas are still a seriously underrated platform, especially with the right 3.8L combination!

Can’t wait to see this car back with a few extra bits and pieces to see if we can squeeze a little more out of gods motor!
