This is the kind of crap we have to deal with all the time. There is a lot of pressure for the car industry lobby groups to restrict imports as much as possible as it affects their bottom line. You would think the government would be supportive of an industry which can offer safe, fuel efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles for an affordable price but they don’t. Instead they support huge multinational companies to continue charging Aussies top dollar for their overpriced new cars. The complexity and red tape we go through to import cars is unnecessarily complicated.

Nevertheless we stay on top of all these changes to ensure a smooth and seamless experience for our customers. These changes only affect new import applications not cars already in Australia. It’s just frustrating at times.

Last year around 10,000 fuel-efficient vehicles entered Australia via the private import process, but a new rule will change that.
