FYI Driver Education

FYI Driver Education Training people to be the best they can be as drivers.

28/01/2013

Well, it has come to this. I am so sorry but, it appears there will be no more " FYI Driver Education" I have been diagnosed with Cancer and at this stage am in Hospital in Melbourne.
Depending on the treatment I shall need, I am not sure where I will even be.
It will be impossible to build up a client base again and then have to either cancel or delay students when I have treatment.
So, I really don't have a choice.
I am/will be, plain and simply " unreliable ".
Very sad, I loved my business and my clients.
Thank you to the one's who came and visited me while I was in Hospital in Swan Hill, for the flowers and cards. And thank you to the one's who have rung or sent messages telling me they passed and thanking me. I really appreciate that.
Good luck to you all.
Lee

Thanks to all my Students, past and present, and all my supporters.
I don't know when, if at all I will be able to continue on the business.
Found out during the week that I have cancer, I am still in hospital here in Swan Hill and will be being transferred to the Royal Women's in Melbourne possibly tomorrow.
Sorry for any inconvenience.

Had a bit of an upsetting and frustrating incident this afternoon at about 5.27 pm, in Coronation Ave.
I was doing a lesson in a private car, a black Suzuki 4WD, the student was fluctuating between 42 and 50 klms p/h. I kept reminding him to stick to 45,( it is a 50 zone ) he started to speed up again because he was being tail gated by a vehicle, I told him to ignore people like that and don't let them make you speed. At this stage the car was very close to the back of his car, I could not read the number plate. I sat up in the seat and looked over my shoulder to see a P plate sitting in the corner of his dash and the driver and passenger " gesturing " to get going, I held up my left hand with my fingers outspread signifying it was a 50 zone. Which only made them more agitated. When we turned left into Donnington St they went past with the passenger giving us the finger. Nice one !
Then they drove around the block and came in from the other street into Donnington, obviously after a bit of mischief.
I bet they did not expect a Driving Instructor to be in the car, especially one who has NO hesitation in ringing the Police re dangerous or aggressive drivers.

So, firstly, if it is one of my ex students ( which I hope not ) they need my size 7 in the butt.

Secondly, I would like an apology, as the student was doing nothing wrong, except being a Learner, as you were yourself not so long ago. And you had the nerve to be attempting to intimidate him.
Honestly what were you thinking ??

It was a dark ( green, I think ) older style Commodore, with peeling paint on the bonnet.

If you can't apologize, the next time I see your car and I get your Rego No :, I will be contacting the Police.

Have a good hard look at yourself while you are at it. :/

Another year gone ! This one seemed to go so fast.
Happy and Safe New Year everyone.

I would like to wish all my students, past and present and their families a very Safe Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
Remember a moments loss of concentration can be fatal. Rest if you need to, be patient and watch on coming traffic.

Thank you all for your support in 2012 !!

Had a sad day today due to a family tragedy, but also a good day. One of my students ( who shall remain nameless, hey Samm ? ,lol.) said I was giving her Turrets, due to her forgetting to check her mirrors, I started using the " buzzer " which in turn provoked an expletive each time , hence the Turrets comment. Had me crying with laughter.
Thanks baby girl, needed that. : )

Mondao.........Do we really want or need to rely on a little light ( that may malfunction ) to tell us there is a vehicle in our blind spot ?? I think not, don't be so damn lazy, do a HEAD CHECK.

Congrats to Tamara, did a good job today.

was a bit annoyed today. We were trying to do a Reverse Park and a lady came out all upset and told us not to use her car.
I said we are no where near your car, she didn't want to know about it.
I said we would leave, not because we had to, as it is legal to park on a public street and she could not stop us, but because I was a " nice person " lol.
Sadly people don't understand, their cars are much safer with us teaching students to park than any other Joe Blow on the road because we have dual controls and can take control if need be.
I have never had a student hit any one else's car in 8 years of Instructing. BUT there is plenty of evidence of other people scraping my car when parking beside it.
Any way, I thanked her for helping to teach someone how to drive. Ooopps, couldn't help it.
Sorry lady.

I know I have been quiet lately, sorry about that.
Between a visit back to the Northern Territory for a school reunion, work and visitors, time has just slipped away from me.

Just wanted to share some statistics with you all.
Since I started this site in March I have had 48 License Tests and out of those 48, have had 8 fails.

Hey there everybody. It would seem drivers are just getting worse and worse.
On the way home this evening, I had some one driving behind me with his lights on high beam, every time a car came towards us he would dip his lights then put them back on high right behind me ??? What was he thinking ? that it is safe and ok to blind the driver in front of him.
Then as I dropped down to 80 at the 80 zone, he came zipping in behind me and overtook, obviously speeding by around 20 ks an hour. Then the one behind him did the same.
I just don't understand why the road rules and common sense are so hard to put into practice.
