Police have started issuing defect notices and/or heavy fines to drivers of electric, hybrid or hydrogen vehicles caught without displaying the approved safety label.

The safety label is a small symbol on the front and rear vehicle number plates. While the actual symbol varies slightly in size and colour across each Australian state and territory, they will look similar to those pictured below.

- Electric and hybrid vehicles must display an ‘EV’ safety label.
- Hydrogen vehicles must display an ‘H’ safety label.

Avoid a fine by ensuring your safety labels are in place. If you’re a FleetPartners customer and you need safety labels, simply email us at [email protected].
