Here is a "behind the scenes" pic of the latest tune we did on a 2012 Holden Colorado. This traveller wanted his ECU tuned for towing his caravan. These customers are typically looking for better pickup upon acceleration, and better fuel economy. So we need to remove the ECU from the vehicle, and pin it to the Alt Tune tuning equipment. Some of our techs love playing with this stuff!

Huge variety of vehicles come through our workshop, and we aim to keep them all moving. This was today's machine. 1988 Merc Unimog in nice condition. We had a chuckle at the sticker on the rear "I identify as carbon neutral".

So what is a DPF? A diesel particulate filter, or DPF, is a device that removes the soot (Diesel Particulate) from a diesel exhaust. These tiny particles of soot have been identified as a health hazard when they are inhaled by people. Governments around the world have regulations which have led to the widespread use of DPFs. They clog up if they aren’t doing their regeneration cycle effectively, and they can heat and cause fires in dry grassland or crops. If you have issues or questions, talk to us.

We are seeing a few vehicles with DPF issues lately (and some very dirty DPFs!) You can prevent some of these issues by allowing your vehicle to finish its regeneration cycle (also called a “burn”) before turning the vehicle off. If your vehicle doesn’t have an indicator on the dash to tell you it is doing a burn, the only indication might be an increase in revs. The time taken to do the burn varies. 1st pic shows a filter blocked – all the little squares should be open! 2nd pic shows black soot been cleaned out of exhaust. Hope this helps someone!

We have seen a run on engine replacements recently. Some workshops shy away from big, complex jobs like this. Our techs take them in their stride! Our customers are productive, busy people, who need to keep moving, and it is our pleasure to help them.
