This is my partner, Allison, and I. I’ve never posted anything personal here on the Concept’s page but the past 3-6-12-24 months have been a whirl wind for us and our families and friends. The last three months has seen Allison in hospital in Sydney on bed rest for just about 95% of the time and I have tried to be there as much as possible. With the shop and other commitments it hasn’t been easy but with the help of Josh looking after the shop, our families and friends and our customers we have held on through the tough times.

I’m going to post in the comments a detailed description of the past 3 months of the ordeal that Allison has been through. We’d love for everyone to read the complete version but the shorten version goes

1. Syrinx of the spinal cord forms
2. Shunt needs to be inserted into syrinx
3. Shunt collapses syrinx but complications arise
4. Muscles feel like they have torn
5. Small leak through incision, turns into big leak, turns into Cerebraspinal fluid leak through incision in dura mater
6. Lumbar drain installed, doesn’t completely work
7. MRI shows torn muscles
8. Surgery again to fix tear and leak in dura
9. Lumbar drain, incision heals 90%, sent home
10. Incision continues to ooze, doesn’t heal
11. New MRI, mad rush to get to Sydney
12. Tests run, aspiration of Allison’s back
13. Flap surgery needed, trapezoid muscle cut, flipped and installed in two fist sized cavity in back
14. 120 hours in ICU
15. Moved to ward
16. Struggles with recovery and movement
17. Release date next Friday
18. Physical rehabilitation in Sydney at Collaroy
19. Finally home in 4-6 weeks.

As a result of the distracted and texting driver of a car that Allison was a passenger of, Allison has been a wheelchair user since the age of 18.

Most of our family, friends, customers and associates know the struggles that Allison has and continues to go through since the accident but we’re beginning to show and discuss in more detail the complications.

We plan to go into more depth on each step so please follow Allison’s page,

Finally, I love you Allison, I’m so proud of you and you’re so very fu***ng strong. X

Last year was filled with more projects than ever. As we put aside more time for social media and the website, www.conceptcoachworks.com.au, we will be catching up on the projects that we haven’t posted anything of, the projects that we have more to share of and the new projects for this year. Josh and I are looking forward to this years projects already in the shop and the others in the future.

After blasting Hamish’s Karmann need a few more rust repairs than previously expected. The body and panels have had a very hard life with 20-25 mm of filler found in the doors. We have finished the metal work now, epoxied the body and repairs and onto bodywork now.
