Updated competition Technical Regulations for Targa Tasmania drop next week, but we’re giving you a sneak peek because it’s all good news!

As we build Targa for a long and successful future, we asked ourselves: What does a modern Targa car look like?

Automotive design is evolving fast, and many manufacturers we know and love are building incredible, factory-ready cars designed for motorsport. We’re opening the doors to embrace this new era:

✅ Factory-built GT4 race cars from your favorite brands will officially be eligible for Targa Tasmania in 2026 and beyond

✅ Sequential gearboxes will be allowed across all categories

✅ Purpose-built R-GT rally cars are approved and ready to tackle Targa's iconic stages

✅ Clearing up a myth intake restrictors are not required on turbo cars. Modern course design already manages safety, so you don't need expensive engine packages to line up at the start line.

Whether you're looking to upgrade your build or thinking about taking on your very first Targa, there’s never been a better time to get involved.
