2018 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3.0L V6 Turbo Diesel

We recently inspected this Mercedes Benz Sprinter for two clients looking to turn their next vehicle purchase into a camper van project!

The standout feature? The sought after 3.0L V6 turbo diesel.

With just over 148,000km on the clock and a history of commercial use transporting garden supplies, we identified a number of general wear and tear items, exactly the kind of things buyers want to know about before committing to a purchase.

Our detailed inspection report gave both clients a clearer picture of the vehicle’s true condition and helped them make an informed decision.

The best part? The following day, we received the news that they’d reached an agreement with the seller and secured the van 🤝

Would you buy a car with bald tyres, power steering leaks and no service history?

Neither would our interstate client.

This Lexus IS300 looked tidy in the advertisement, but our inspection quickly uncovered a number of concerns that weren’t obvious from the photos.

❌ Both rear tyres were bald
❌ Power steering rack leaking
❌ Power steering reservoir leaking
❌ Previous paint repairs to the bonnet, front bumper and both front guards
❌ No service books or maintenance records

The biggest concern? There was no way to confirm whether major servicing, including the timing belt replacement, had ever been carried out.

For a vehicle potentially travelling to QLD, these are the types of issues buyers need to know about before committing to a purchase.

2020 Toyota LandCruiser Pre-Purchase Inspection

Another interstate client relying on BVI to help make an informed buying decision.

This 2020 Toyota LandCruiser was inspected for a client based in Far North Queensland who was looking to purchase the vehicle sight unseen and needed reassurance that it was ready to go straight to work.

During our inspection, only minor cosmetic imperfections were identified, including general scuffs and marks to the bodywork consistent with its previous life on a farm. Apart from this, the vehicle presented exceptionally well, with a strong service history, clean interior, and excellent overall condition.

After completing our comprehensive inspection process, a detailed report was provided to the client, giving them the confidence and information they needed before proceeding with the purchase.

This 2024 Ford Mustang recently underwent a comprehensive pre purchase inspection by BVI for a client in Victoria who was purchasing the vehicle sight unseen.

With just only 22,000km on the odometer, this GT mustang presented exactly as described by the local dealer. Apart from a few minor paint imperfections to the front bumper and lower bonnet area, the vehicle presented in good condition and showed clear signs of being well cared for previously.

When you’re buying from interstate, an independent inspection from BVI can make all the difference 🤝

Modified vehicles require a different level of inspection 🔍

This 1990 BMW E30 recently underwent a comprehensive pre purchase inspection for a client who had a goal in mind, building something cool.

With a vehicle that’s over 30 years old and already fitted with some modifications, it’s important to understand exactly what you’re buying. During our inspection, we identified a number of items requiring attention, many of which were common age related issues you would expect to find on a classic vehicle of this era.

With an engine conversion on the cards, we were also able to provide guidance on engineering requirements and connect them with a local engineer here in the Illawarra to help make their vision a reality.

Sometimes the most valuable part of an inspection isn’t what you find, it’s understanding what’s involved in taking a project to the next level 🤝

Immaculate condition 🧐 hmmmm

During a recent inspection on this Toyota Hilux, we uncovered rust underneath a vinyl roof wrap that had begun to deteriorate. The wrap appeared rough and weathered from prolonged UV exposure which then exposed the rust that was present on the vehicles roof.

This is a great reminder that vinyl wraps can sometimes hide underlying issues. BVI have sighted various methods over the years from sellers attempting to hide rust so if your looking at a vehicle and suspect it has rust, make sure you book in your pre purchase inspection 🤝

Looking for the right tow vehicle can be a big decision, especially when you’re preparing to do a lap around Aus 🇦🇺🦘

BVI recently inspected this 2024 Toyota LandCruiser on behalf of a client from far north NSW who were looking for a reliable tow vehicle for their new caravan. With the purchase being made from a distance, our clients were relying on an independent inspection report to ensure the vehicle was everything it appeared to be.

After carrying out our comprehensive inspection, this LandCruiser impressed from start to finish. With just over 20,000km on the odometer, the vehicle presented in great condition and passed all of our inspection checks with it even getting our BVI sticker of approval ✅

2011 Ford Falcon XR6 | 88,400km

Low kilometres doesn’t always tell the full story.

We recently carried out our comprehensive pre purchase inspection on this 2011 Ford Falcon XR6 showing just over 88,400km. Overall, the vehicle presented well and had an excellent service history, which is always a positive sign when assessing an older vehicle.

However, one thing we often see with vehicles that have spent time sitting unused is age related deterioration of components.

During our inspection, we identified worn rear differential bushes (a common issue on the falcons). We also found a power steering leak originating from behind the pump/reservoir area, oil seepage around the engine sump, worn bump stops and damage to the front bumper where a hole had been pierced through the right hand side.

None of these issues were necessarily deal breakers, but they are exactly the type of findings buyers should be aware of before committing to a purchase.
