New road safety rules for novice drivers are coming into place from 1 December 2024 to help reduce distractions and prevent accidents.

Soon red P-plate drivers in WA will be limited to carrying only one passenger at all times.

Exemptions can apply if:
👉 any additional passenger(s) must be an experienced driver who has held an ordinary C-class licence for at least four years
👉 other passengers must be immediate family members
👉 additional passengers can be in the vehicle as a necessary requirement of the driver's employment, conditions apply.

The new safety rules will apply to all existing and future red P-plate drivers, and have been introduced in response to the tragic deaths of young people on WA roads.

Hi Everyone, for circumstances out of our control we have had to relocate our trailer for all our bikes and car lessons.
We will no longer be parked at the Mandurah Lic Ctr on Pinjarra Rd.
We will now be located at the Mandurah Baptist Church Carpark on Pinjarra Rd approximately 100 meters east of the Mandurah lic ctr staying very close to the Lic Ctr effectively immediately.
I wish to thank the DOT for allowing us to park at the DOT for past 4 1/2 years and also thank the Mandurah Baptist Church for giving us permission to use their Carpark moving forward.

You know the road rules – now is your chance to prove it!

Is it legal to make a ‘U’ turn across a continuous dividing line?

ANSWER: Drivers can make a ‘U’ turn when crossing a continuous dividing line, if it is safe to do so. In Western Australia ONLY, ‘U' turns are allowed over a continuous white line. When making a ‘U’ turn, you must:
-ensure it can be done safely;
-use your indicator to signal your intentions to other drivers;
-give way to all other vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians on the road you are turning into.

We're making changes to provide a fair and equitable PDA booking system for all our customers. From 11 April, we’ll switch off PDA bookings swaps by authorised driving instructors.

While the majority of driving instructors used the system fairly, some took advantage to bulk book driving tests resulting in an unfair system for others.

New and cancelled bookings - up to six months in advance - are released daily however we encourage candidates and their instructors to only book the PDA if you're ready and confident. https://www.transport.wa.gov.au/licensing/step-5-pass-practical-assessment.asp

If you do need to reschedule, make sure you cancel at least two full business days before to avoid paying for a new PDA. Plus, it frees up a spot for someone else. Win Win!

A police car with lights and sirens on is approaching an intersection at the same time as a pedestrian – who needs to give way?
ANSWER: The pedestrian must give way to an emergency vehicle (police, fire and ambulance) sounding an alarm or showing flashing red or blue lights. Full answer in Transport WA's comment 👇
