If you’re in the process of getting your licence, watch out for scams on social media claiming to help you fast-track the licensing process. The only way to get your licence is to pass your Learner Permit test, your Hazard Perception Test and your Drive Test. These scams trick you into handing over your money or your personal details by offering you a ‘guaranteed’ way to easily get your licence.

Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is! If you come across a scam, make sure to report it either on social media or to: https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/report-a-scam

Using a device while driving can cause you to crash. From 31 March 2023, new road rules will extend existing mobile phone rules to include:
• inbuilt systems
• mounted devices
• wearable and portable devices, like smartwatches and tablets.
These new changes will help to minimise distractions on the road.

John’s Australian Driving Academy Retirement announcement. After 25 years of instructing many young and not so young learner drivers to achieve the goal of obtaining their driving licence, I have decided as of February 2023 that it is time for me to retire and hang up the “L” plates. With a sad heart we will be closing the business. I would like to thank you for your trust and confidence in permitting me to help you obtain your probationary driving licence. PLEASE REMEMBER; It is a privilege, not a right to travel on the road. Drive safely. Trevor Fyfe. JADA

Driving is a complex task that requires quick decision making and complete concentration.

When you drive with a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) level of 0.05 - 0.08, your ability to judge distances is reduced, your sensitivity to red lights is impaired, and your reactions are slower.

If you’re caught drink driving with a BAC of 0.05 or more, you’ll:
- lose your license
- need to complete a compulsory Behaviour Change Program
- have to get an alcohol interlock installed in any vehicle you drive
- have to drive with a zero BAC requirement for at least 3 years

And, for more serious offences, you risk going to jail.

Don’t risk the drink. Learn more about staying safe when travelling on the road - https://www.police.vic.gov.au/road-safety-0
