Today in the Workshop – 2015 Toyota Prado

In today for a full service – all filters and oils replaced, including engine, diffs, transfer case, and transmission.

Behind the transmission pan sits a filter that was replaced, and you can see the difference between the old and new transmission fluid in the photos.

Even if your car is shifting perfectly, it’s smart to service the transmission as preventative maintenance. Many modern autos don’t have a dipstick, so you can’t easily check fluid at home.

🚗🔧 Suzuki Vitara – Service & Brake Check

This Vitara came in today for a general service. As part of the service we checked the rear brakes — the shoes still had plenty of material left and the drums were in good condition ✅.

What we did find though was a leaking driver’s side rear wheel cylinder. This hadn’t caused any issues yet, but if left unattended it could have turned into something much bigger. We replaced the wheel cylinder, flushed and bled the brake system, and it’s all good to go again. 👌

Routine checks like these are why regular servicing is so important — sometimes it’s not what you can hear or feel that needs attention!

🚙 Today in the workshop – Jay’s 79 Series Cruiser

This came in for what should’ve been a basic oil and filter service. The last service was done at a dealership and they were supposed to change all the filters… but it sure didn’t look like it.

👉 The cabin filter tray was there, but no proper filter ever fitted. The owner had previously mentioned the aircon blower wasn’t performing as well as it should, and no one had taken the time to check. Turns out it was just blocked with dust and paper.
👉 The air filter was spotless inside but completely caked on the outside.
👉 The fuel filter was filthy and long overdue.

This Cruiser is Jay’s hunting rig and tourer, and now she’s breathing easy again — and the aircon’s finally blowing like it should.

At K-MADD Motors, it doesn’t matter what you drive – hunting rig, tourer, classic, daily, or even an old rusty bus – I treat them all the same, as if it was a Nissan!

The real hero? The sump plug. Pretty sure it’s been there since new 🤯 Finally retired and replaced with a shiny new one 😅

Had this Isuzu D-MAX in for a service. This ute is his chariot to get to work, so it’s important it’s done right. The fuel filter wasn’t technically due yet, but with these common rail diesels, by the time they’re “due” they’re already dirty — better to get onto them early.

The aircon belt was also worn. Not causing trouble yet, but it would have down the track. And those little oil filter drain funnels are great, but only if they’re cleaned properly — this one clearly hadn’t been in past services.

It’s about taking pride in the job, not rushing it. Customers deserve to leave happy knowing their car’s been properly looked after.

There’ll be two different designs — one like these for work, and another more casual shirt with a funny catchphrase on it, like “Because Ubers Suck” or “Keeping You Out of Ubers.”

Every service at K-MADD Motors comes with a free engine bay clean.

I still remember, as a kid, when my mum took her Toyota Vienta in for a clutch. The mechanic cleaned her engine bay, and that small touch impressed her more than the repair itself.

That stuck with me — so now I do the same. A simple clean, pride in the job, and every car leaves looking cared for. 💚

At the Wheels at the Park show in Rockhampton (Nerimbera), while everyone was checking out the flash stuff, I was stuck on this little beauty — a 1920s Bugatti vacuum fuel pump. Pure mechanical craftsmanship, and genius once you understand how it works.

These days the same job is done by something as small and simple as a Facet low-pressure electric pump. Worlds apart, same purpose.
