There’s a common misconception when it comes to clutch wear. Some people think that just because they can’t feel any ‘slip’ the clutch must be fine.

In reality, other signs such as a stiff pedal feel, high bite/engagement point and vaguness when clutching in are much more indicative of a worn clutch.

The customer noted all those signs but thought his clutch was fine given it wasn’t slipping… but by the time the car arrived with us for a clutch changed there was barely anything left of the clutch! The fact that he managed to drive to us was nothing short of a miracle.

Whats not to love about the ND MX5!
It’s a proper 2 seater, front engined RWD sports car with multi link rear suspension. With its high revving NA engine and only tipping the scales at around 1000kg, all you need are some good tyres and brakes for a well rounded machine to carve up the backstreets/mountain roads.

For this car, the customer opted for dba T3 4000 series slotted front rotors paired with Project-Mu Australia NS-EP fast street brake pads, which makes more some serious stopping power without the noise/dust of a track setup.

Long awaited restoration gets underway for one lucky customer!

This already mint condition R32 GTR gets a full strip down and setup on a dolly in preparation for a full restoration/respray at the body shop.

While the body shop tends to the chassis, we begin rebuilding/refreshing the rear differential and other drivetrain components before moving onto the engine.

Routine maintenance for this 2005 WRX STI; this particular one needed a new set of rocker cover gaskets.

For these time intensive jobs we always use genuine Subaru Australia parts. It’s also worth noting that rocker covers gaskets & tube seals arn’t the only seals to replace when doing this job. To do it ‘properly’, we also replace the oil filler neck o-ring and, depending on the model, even the half moon seals at the back heads.

This is the core ethos behind our R1 and R2 packages which is fitted to this customer car.

⭕ Fujitsubo headers (ceramic coated)
⭕ High flow cats
⭕ Catback exhaust
⭕ Z1 cold air intakes
⭕ HKS oil cooler

On this occasion, we also added Flex Fuel for a bit more ’umph’ but also has the secondary benefit of running cooler than 98ron - WIN WIN.

NISMO 370Z getting our R1 + R2 packages fitted PLUS flex fuel setup!

If you’re wondering why the engine is out, for us we actually work quicker this way in terms of fitting the headers.

Tuning wise, we exclusively tune 370z using EcuTek Technologies Ltd which can also fully support forced induction setups.

Anyways, more on this build coming in the next few days!
