A little workshop-made solution from today 🔧

We put together this trailer light tester to make diagnosing trailer lighting issues much easier.

No more needing a car hooked up just to check tail lights, brake lights, indicators or reverse lights. We can now power and test each circuit directly, making faults quicker to find and repairs more straightforward.

Simple tool, big time saver.

Side note, works great - found the broken wire in Marks trailer we have been doing a few repairs to.

Don’t overlook the cabin filter. 🔧

This dirty cabin filter came out of a BT-50, and it’s a perfect example of one of the most commonly overlooked service items.

A blocked cabin filter can affect:

✅ Air flow through the vents
✅ Air-con performance
✅ Dust and debris entering the cabin
✅ Musty smells inside the vehicle
✅ The quality of air you’re breathing while driving

Most people remember engine oil, air filters and spark plugs — but cabin filters often get missed, even during regular servicing.

It’s a small part, but it makes a big difference.

🔥 Ria’s WH Caprice back in tip-top shape 🔥

On recommendation from Shane at Canberra Comwreck, Ria’s pride and joy came in needing some much-needed TLC.

With oil leaking from just about every seal and a few maintenance items overdue, we got stuck in and gave the Caprice the freshen-up it deserved.

Work carried out:
🔧 Full gasket kit fitted
🔧 GM LS lifters & buckets installed
🔧 Melling high-volume oil pump fitted
🔧 Aeroflow barbell installed
🔧 Engine oil & filter service
🔧 Engine mounts replaced
🔧 Power steering pump hose replaced
🔧 Power steering fluid replaced
🔧 Tailshaft centre bearing replaced
🔧 Brake fluid flush
🔧 Differential fluid service
🔧 Front brake pads & rotors replaced
🔧 Complete degrease & wash down
🔧 ACT registration inspection carried out

A solid refresh for a clean WH Caprice — leaks sorted, maintenance handled, and now back in tip-top shape ready to be enjoyed again.

Billy’s VS SS came in after sitting around for way too long… and it definitely had a few secrets waiting for us 👀

What started as a “look it over and get it going” job quickly turned into fuel tank rust, a dead fuel pump, and rust found in cylinder 7. So out came the engine for a proper teardown.

Once apart, the so-called “freshly built” engine showed abnormal crank and conrod bearing wear — most likely from a bent crank. Not exactly what you want to find 😬

Billy made the call to go with an assembled bottom end from Victoria, then we transferred all his top-end gear across and gave the fuel system the birthday it needed.

Freshened up with:
✅ LS1 injectors
✅ Fuel tank, pump, filter, hoses
✅ Spark plugs
✅ Heads pressure tested and machined
✅ MLS head gaskets and full gasket kit
✅ Oil pump
✅ Water pump, thermostat and heater tap
✅ Radiator hoses and new radiator
✅ Drive belts and ignition coil

Now Billy’s VS SS is back together, healthier, cleaner, and ready to make noise again 🔥

Nothing like bringing an Aussie V8 back from the brink.

Chris’s Holden VF Commodore Wagon came to us referred by Rob at CJ Holden Spares for what looked like a simple oil leak.

Quick check turned into something a bit more interesting.

Wasn’t engine oil at all — transmission fluid.
Tracked it back and found the torque converter had cracked on the neck.

Not something you see every day.

We pressure tested the converter to confirm it, and sure enough — leaking.

No mucking around from there.

🔧 Work carried out:
• Leak diagnosis and confirmation
• Torque converter pressure tested
• Replaced faulty converter

Big thanks to Burson Auto Parts Fyshwick for sourcing a replacement converter same day 👌

Got it back together and back on the road in no time.

Daniel’s Holden VF Ute V6 came in with a fuel pressure issue and a P228C code logged.

Quick diag pointed straight to the high pressure fuel pump on the back of the passenger head — common failure point on these.

No mucking around.

🔧 Work carried out:
• Fault code diagnosis (P228C)
• Replaced high pressure fuel pump
• System checked and verified

Fired it up, fuel pressure back where it should be and running properly again.

Simple job when you diagnose it right the first time. 💪
