⛽ Using More Fuel Than Usual? Your Car Could Be Telling You Something.

If your fuel consumption suddenly changes, don't automatically blame petrol prices.

A change in fuel economy can sometimes be associated with things such as:

• Incorrect tyre pressure
• Uneven tyre tread
• Engine issues
• Dirty or low engine oil
• Worn spark plugs
• Dragging brakes
• Clogged air filters
• Fuel system problems
• Sensors
• Driving habits or conditions

If your car is using noticeably more fuel than it normally does, it's worth finding out why. Talk to the team at autoplus.com.au/mechanic/preston-car-service

Your battery does more than start your car.

It provides the electrical power needed to start the engine and supports your vehicle's electrical systems.

And when a battery starts to weaken, you may notice:

🔋 Slower starting
💡 Dimming lights
⚡ Electrical issues

A battery can give warning signs before it finally lets you down. If you need a new battery or have questions about your vehicle's battery health talk to us today at autoplus.com.au/mechanic/preston-car-service

💡 Can You See? More Importantly - Can They See You?

Headlights, brake lights, indicators and reverse lights all play an important role on the road.

A blown globe or faulty light might seem like a small problem, but it can affect visibility and communication with other drivers.

Take a minute to check your lights regularly between services.

It can be associated with things such as alignment, suspension, tyre pressure or other issues.

🚗 Your Car Feels Different. But You Can't Quite Say Why.

Sometimes your car doesn't make a strange noise or switch on a warning light.

It just… feels different.

Are you noticing:
🔹 Pulling to one side?
🔹 Vibration through the steering wheel?
🔹 Steering that feels heavier than usual?
🔹 Changes in the way your car handles?

These can be signs of issues with your wheel alignment, tyres or suspension - and they're worth checking before a small problem becomes a bigger one.

Your car is often giving you clues. Don't ignore them. Contact the qualified mechanics at autoplus.com.au/mechanic/preston-car-service

AutoPlus Explains: Why Does Tyre Pressure Matter?

Tyre pressure isn’t just about keeping your tyres inflated - it can affect safety, handling, fuel economy and tyre life.

When your tyre pressure is too low or too high, your tyres may not perform the way they’re designed to.

Here’s why the right pressure matters:

⚠️ SAFETY — Helps maintain proper grip and road contact.
⛽ FUEL ECONOMY — Correct pressure can help reduce rolling resistance.
🚗 TYRE LIFE — Helps prevent uneven or excessive tyre wear.
🔀 HANDLING — Supports proper steering and vehicle stability.

💡 Tip: Check your tyre pressures regularly and always follow the pressure recommended by your vehicle manufacturer - you’ll usually find it on the driver’s door jamb or in the owner’s manual.

👃 You Smell Something Strange. We See a Clue.

Your car shouldn't normally have strong or unusual smells.

If something smells different, it could be your car giving you an early warning that something needs attention.

👃 Sweet smell?
Could be a sign of a coolant leak.

🔥 Burning smell?
Something could be overheating, leaking or coming into contact with a hot component.

⛽ Fuel smell?
This should never be ignored. It could indicate a fuel-system issue or leak that needs checking.

🌬️ Musty smell?
It could be coming from the air-conditioning system, cabin air filter or moisture inside the vehicle.

The smell itself doesn't always tell the whole story — but it's a clue.

🔧 If your car suddenly smells different, don't ignore it. Let the AutoPlus Autoexperts find out why.

🛢️ What Does Your Car's Oil Actually Do?

Engine oil does a lot more than just lubricate your engine.

Clean, quality oil helps reduce friction between moving components, manage heat, carry contaminants away and protect engine parts from wear.

🔧 Regular oil changes can help:
• Reduce engine wear
• Keep your engine running smoothly
• Maintain performance
• Help identify potential issues early
• Keep your vehicle running reliably

Your engine works hard every time you drive — make sure its oil is doing its job too.

📅 Not sure when your oil was last changed? It might be time to check.
