Today’s job is another Holden Commodore 6spd 6L45 automatic, fitted in both VE & VF V6 in the workshop with a transmission fluid leak from the front of the transmission.

This type of leak can commonly be mistaken for a front seal leak, so proper diagnosis is important before pulling anything apart.

Once the vehicle was hoisted and inspected, we confirmed it was transmission fluid leaking from the front of the transmission. The transmission was then removed for further inspection.

We pressure-tested the torque converter and found a crack along the torque converter throat, which was the source of the leak.

We replaced the failed torque converter with a quality reconditioned unit.

While the transmission was out, we also gave the customer the option to replace the pressure regulator valve in the pump. This helps address wear that can contribute to the dreaded torque converter shudder and can help prolong the life of the replacement converter.

Today's repair involved a Volkswagen / Audi DSG transmission with a faulty Transmission Control Module (TCM).

The vehicle presented in limp mode and clutch performance issues. After diagnosis, we found the TCM was incorrectly reading clutch pressures on Clutch 1, in the data clutch 1 specified pressure was 0 bar but actual was reading -.67 bar, causing the transmission to operate outside of its intended parameters.

The good news is that in many cases, we can replace the Transmission Control Module without replacing the complete mechatronic unit, providing a much more cost-effective repair option for our customers.

Accurate diagnosis is key with these complex dual-clutch transmissions, ensuring the right repair is carried out.

A Job we had recently was a VW Polo fitted with the DQ200 DSG transmission, suffering from clutch shudder.

This is a common issue caused by wear in the dual clutch assembly, often resulting in vibration, shuddering, and poor drivability.

After diagnosis, the transmission was removed and the clutch assembly replaced, restoring smooth operation and driving performance.

Today's transmission teardown revealed a major issue with the reverse clutch pack in a Toyota Prado A750 transmission.

The reverse frictions had completely fallen apart, sending friction material throughout the transmission and blocking the filter, restricting oil flow. For reference, the bolt shown highlights the excessive clearance we found in the clutch pack.

The reverse clutch air gap measured approximately 6mm when specification is around 1mm, explaining the poor operation and internal damage found during inspection,

Transmission overhaul required.

Today’s job was a Toyota Hilux fitted with an A343F automatic transmission that came in with torque converter failure.

Once the transmission was removed and disassembled it was thoroughly cleaned and inspected, the only reliable repair was a complete transmission overhaul, including replacement of the failed torque converter with a new one as it couldn’t be reconditioned, it also needed a new pump, the stator surface machined up, and a new radiator as the cooler was full of metal.

Did you know we make our own heavy-duty Ford Ranger / Everest / Mazda BT50 6R80 transmission cooler kits. Suits 6 speed auto
2.2L & 3.2L turbo diesel models

Our kits feature thermal by pass valve, durable metal hard lines and a large single-core transmission cooler designed to help keep transmission temperatures under control, especially when towing, carrying heavy loads, or operating in harsh Australian conditions.

Lower transmission temperatures can help improve reliability and extend the life of your transmission, making a cooler upgrade one of the best preventative modifications you can make to your 6R80-equipped vehicle.

Today’s job — Ford Fiesta 6DCT250 dual clutch replacement

This vehicle came in with a transmission warning light illuminated and would almost stall when selecting drive or reverse.

After carrying out diagnostics, we found the transmission was only operating in 1st, 3rd and 5th gears. The vehicle also had a noticeable clutch drag when coming to a stop — a common sign of clutch issues in these transmissions.

The transmission was removed and the dual clutch assembly replaced, restoring proper operation and drivability.

Nissan CVT

Did you know most of these transmissions actually have 2 filters?

✔️ One located under the transmission pan
✔️ One in the cooler return circuit

Both play a critical role in keeping your CVT running smooth 👍

Today’s job is the all-too-common Holden Colorado/Trailblazer 6L50 torque converter shudder issue. (2016 onwards approx)

Customer complaint started as a light shudder under load, typically in higher gears with light throttle. Classic signs most people associate with a failing torque converter clutch. But as always, the real story is deeper

On inspection:
• Torque converter clutch showing signs of deterioration
• Fluid condition degraded (often from prolonged slip/shudder)
• Pressure regulator valve wear identified

That worn pressure regulator valve is a big contributor here. It causes unstable line pressure, which leads to:
• Inconsistent clutch apply
• Converter slip/shudder
• Accelerated internal wear

As can see in photos original worn regulator valve only holding 6-7inches of vacuum and new upgraded valve holding 23inches

To rectify the fault, we fit an upgraded torque converter and an upgraded pressure regulator valve, new filter kit and new specified fluid.

We have seen regulator valve wear as low as 80,000kms, this particular car has 180,000kms
