π A post to help understand the process of the cbt & a driving course (competency based training and assessment) that each learner has to pass in order to get their Ps. Please share with anyone you know who has an up and coming P plater. ππΌ
This course is designed to equip each student with all the skills necessary to drive π safely and lawfully βοΈon their own. It is a huge responsibility for them, and the community that they are fully prepared. My job in lessons is to show them the steps π’ involved and to give them some good tips and hints on how to learn all the things necessary to pass β
. It is then the responsibility of each student to take the time between lessons to practice and perfect each of those skills learned in the lesson. Lessons are for me to show more skills to be practiced and then to assess ποΈ their competency of the things from the previous lesson. If there is no driving or reading π(study essentially) from one lesson to the next, the assessment standard isnβt reached and competency isnβt achieved and the skill wonβt be able to be signed off π
πΌπ. Which then turns lesson time into practice time which pushes back time β° to learn all the other new things and progress through the course is stunted. It makes it a longer process than it needs to be (not to mention more costly π°).
To ensure the student is able to get their Ps by their due date practice is essential and driving hours should be almost completed. Much like passing a subject at school π«, the work between the actual lesson is what gets them over the line to reach the score necessary to pass the subject βΊοΈππΌ
I love to see my students fully prepared and capable of driving and find great joy in handing over the certificate of competency at the end of their course. π
Attached is a repost which also explains the cbt & a driving course.
Happy holidays and safe driving out there! βΊοΈπ€©ππΌ

The most frequently asked question most instructors get is βhow many lessons do I need to get my Ps?β And the answer is π€·π½ββοΈπ€·π½ββοΈπ€·π½ββοΈ. Let me explain....
The Competency based training & assessment course or βlog book methodβ of getting your licence is very much based on each individuals driving abilities. The key word here is - competency.
There is no βsetβ amount of lessons as such to obtain your provisional licence. There is, however, a certain amount of things to learn ;30 tasks (found at the back of the log book in the yellow π¨ section). The learner has to show competence in each task for it to be signed off, and all 30 (30 being the final drive) need to be signed offβπ½ (by the same instructor) before sitting the βtestβ or final drive. Most tasks are easily ππΌ learned and signed off βπ½ in each lesson, but some tasks require a little in between lesson practice.
Practice in between lessons is key π (and also free π€©πππΌ). In all my 14yrs of driver instruction experience the one thing that stands out is how little a person who practices what theyβve learned in lessons, ends up paying π° for lessons! It is only a very short course which will last a life time. And as the old saying goes, Practice, practice, practice makes perfect ππΌ
